Rain poured down over the wedding gazebo calling a halt to the celebrations for most of the guests but for the two grooms it just seemed to be a blessing from the sky above. It had been raining when they met. Matsumoto Jun thought slowly looking over at his lover Ninomiya Kazunari. If he closed his eyes and thought about it he could still hear the pitter-patter of raindrops against the window and still see the way the ground shone with the straggles of sunlight that had been trying desperately to find its way through the thick blanket of cloud. Nino had been working part time in his father’s florists and had been particularly grumpy about it that day….

The almost sickly sweet smile of the flowers had been almost overwhelming as Jun had darted into the nearest building to him in the hopes of riding out the shower that had had appeared unexpectedly and caught him without an umbrella. There hadn’t been anyone else but Nino in the small shop but Jun got the impression that he was one too many costumers. Though he hadn’t intended on being a customer before realising that it would probably be considered rude not to buy something while he was seeking shelter.

“Anything I can help you with?” The boy behind the counter asked with the barest hint of politeness as he looked up from where he was arranging flowers into a prettily decorative blue vase. It had a shine to it with swirling patterns of flowers and dragons on the sides leading into a pair of handles. The flowers poking the way out of the top were like swirls of something amazing. He had never been interested in the art of flowers but the swirls of blues, pinks, greens coming out were something amazing to look at and it seemed sad that his skills were locked away in a pokey little flower shop.

“Um…Flowers”

“You came to the right place” The man smirked, just a little, but it made his face look cuter his eyes twinkling in a way that he had been convinced only existed in books. “What kind of flowers?”

“I dunno, pretty ones” Jun shrugged looking around the shop his cheeks growing a little warm when the florist gave a chuckle and pointed out slowly;

“All flowers are pretty, that’s basically their thing, but what kind of job are you going to be giving them?”

“…They’re for my mum I guess, Sunday dinner…” Jun rolled his eyes slowly with his back to the florist wondering how he had had stumbled upon somebody that spoke like an old man “Is that a job?”
“In a way” The younger man hummed slowly setting aside his scissors on the counter and stepping out from behind “Tell me about your mum?”

“…Why?”

“Indulge me? It works better if I get an impression of who the flowers are for” The florist shrugged moving around him so he could look at the buckets of flowers in front of them and Jun rolled his eyes looking to the door and the premade bouquets that were there wishing he had just picked up one of those instead of having to deal with somebody that would push more expensive ones onto him.

“You take your job seriously don’t you?”

“You would if this was all you had been trained for since you were a kid, so tell me, the rain isn’t going to stop soon” Jun scowled at the rain again and then sighed muttering;

“Fine. She’s in her fifties. A little bit dumpy…”

“Serious? Or a sense of humour? Kind?”

“A little bit of a sense of humour, I guess, very kind…” Jun muttered in confusion as the florist began picking out flowers at random from the buckets.

“There for you when you were sick?”

“Of course, what does this have to do with anything?” Jun felt his eyebrows knit together as the florist threw a smirk at him over his shoulder saying;

“Just trust me, okay? Favourite memory of you and your mother?”
