So, turns out there are Napoleonic era bones in the stone wall that surrounds my house. They were used to help out as filler and now that the wall is deteriorating slowly, they stick out. It's that charming, old, French countryside sort of deteriorating that is exposing the history. The house was previously the Notaire (guy who handles property)'s house and it was used by Germans throughout the occupation. A lot of people have passed through this house. It's so big and old, I love it! My roommates have a fireplace too and so does the apartment across the hall from my bedroom. I'm not going to want to leave this town once I'm done working. Which by the way is going fantastic. I love my job and so far the students have been complementing my ability to stay perfectly still, so I'm doing well! It's a small town with not much going on at all, so don't expect a lot of updates. They'll all be the same.

Friday mornings there is a bus to the nearest town where there is the biggest farmers market. I don't commit to one stand and love to walk around to scope out the scene first before I buy an item. I have a vegetable admirer now. One guy gave me a bouquet of Parsley as a gift. It was sweet. The eggs here are so fresh and unbelievable tasting. I'm going to miss that like crazy. Oh and the selection of goat cheese makes my day! I can't eat real cheese anymore, but I lucked out with finding out that there is no lactose in goat's milk. Thank god goats produce some of the most delicious cheese.
I saw this woman selling live chickens and other birds in a bunch of cages. She grabbed two by the legs and stuffed them in this cardboard box. That was a shock. Never seen that in my life before. Apparently, not even too long ago they still did that in Kensington Market until it was deemed cruelty to animals. That would be blasphemous here. Agro-Culture is so preserved here. Only recently have they been relaxing things to allow imported items. You wouldn't think it would be a surprising thing to find Cheddar cheese in the small grocery store in this town, but trust me, when I found out they had it, I was ultra surprised. You can barely find it in Paris. Cheese that isn't French is just really hard to come by.
There is a fair tomorrow morning in my town. I am waking up early to check out the antique treats!
So, remember when I said it was a small world that I met Christina, a student at CCS where Kuya goes and roommate of two of his classmates, randomly off of Craigslist? Well, an artist friend of a friend in Toronto, asked me to model for him a few weeks back because his other model dropped out. I couldn't do it for obvious reasons, so he said we will work together when I get back. Turns out he studied with the founder of the school I work at here in France! SMALL WORLD!
