Claire turned five earlier this week, and I dropped off the face of the earth for a while to have a whole weekend of birthday celebration for her. Saturday was her party - she asked if she could have a marching band party. We made instruments and hats and stuff. It was kind of rad.

Like, I heard Muse was coming to the Staples Center. But when I logged on at the exact time tickets went on sale, no tickets (except for a few behind stage). I don't really think Muse is coming to LA. Maybe they're stunt doubles.

Even though I've been listening to Christmas music since August, it is now finally starting to feel like the holidays. And I'm not sure I've ever been as excited about the holidays as I have been today. Halfway through the last encore, Eddie Vedder says, “Sometimes, a single presence can sometimes change everything.” Then he introduced Chris Cornell and they started playing “Hunger Strike.” At that point, I pretty much expected the walls of the Gibson Amphitheater to fall down on us. It was like observing the Holy Grail of Grunge.

Muse's new album The Resistance came out today. I was up super late last night doing stuff in the dungeons of Podcastle, so I picked it up before I went to bed. My initial reactions after giving it a few listens are this:
