Against all odds, 2/6 sunflowers have poked their heads up over the soil - even though I've left them out in the frost for a couple of weeks.

Today was a decent spring day after a cold rainy week. Tiny k. helped me plant another tray of tomatoes - 2/3 harbingers, 1/3 gardner's delight.

Moving the seedlings up to the loft was a stroke of genius - good temperature, plenty of light. Only downside is that of course I don't see them, the stairs are a nightmare, and I have to carry water from the basement - so I may have neglected to water them for four days ( Read more... )

At the same time as the tomatoes, I planted one tray with french marigolds, called French Dwarf Double Mixed (that sounds like a super nova or something), and one tray of Calendula officinalisIntention is to co-plant these as borders in the allotment, to prevent pests or attract butterflies, or whatever they're supposed to do ( Read more... )
