March 28, 2007 - What's the oh-so-secret password?
The day of toga-distribution and the Blue Roast. It was a big day for all the seniors. I know Pau has been preparing for this one since sophomore year. :D
So I went to school to pick up my toga. Saw a lot of my Bio batchmates. Funny enough, everytime we greet one another, the next thing to come out of our mouths is: "Saan ka magmmed school?" That was just the hot topic of the morning. We all asked where each one of us is attending med school, and we talked about where the other people would be going. It really made me feel that this is it, we are about to end a chapter of our lives and enter a new one. And as I was looking at my other batchmates (non-Bio ones) getting their togas, I marvelled at how different the world of Bio students are from them. If our conversations that morning are about which medschool we are going to, they must be talking about which job they are taking or are they gonna continue to study.
I left school, with a mission ahead of me: white tube top, black Janylin pumps, new haircut, and French tip nails. Hahaha, kikay mode is on. I went to Greenhills to get the clothes. I got the tube top, but alas, the shoes that come in my size are in the Janylin branch in Cubao. I went there immediately. Yes, that is how much I want those footwear. It's for my grad day, I gotta have it! Afterwards, I got myself all primped up at Fanny Serrano's. I haven't tried getting a haircut there, so I was curious. And I loved the results, althought Yaya and Ma hated it. Gah. I never win.
I went home first to put on my dress and some make-up. My dad bought me a wraparound dress, how cute is that. (Well, I did all the selecting and modeling at the store, he just stood there and waited for the bill.) I arrived at the Blue Roast a little late . . . well maybe we can say fashionably late, because I did the whole glam-up thing. I loved CJ's reaction when he saw me: "Ang ganda mo ngayon!", pointing at me with his hands for emphasis. Wahaha, allow me to bask in rare and sincere compliments like that.
But there I was wearing a dress, and there were no frickin' seats at the Blue Roast?? Craaaaaaap. They could have mentioned that before the event, man. I knew that the past Blue Roasts had appropriate seatings, what is up with this one? Oh well.
Once again, I spent the night with my Bio batchmates. I think weeks before, I mentioned to them that we should go to a club or bar after the Blue Roast. Seemed a lot of people remembered and where asking me about it. I wasn't sure about it at first, because I had no transpo. Luckily, Jose and Teejay were willing to drive all of us there, so the party's on!
Somehow, the Bio peeps and I had our own little world in the Bel field. We had no idea what was happening on stage. Bands were coming up, they were giving away awards. We were just having too much fun hanging out with one another, taking pictures, drinking and eating. But of course, we caught the flame-throwing, flame-eating people - whatever it is that you call those. Honestly, I got bored with it after the first 5 minutes. Claps for them though, especially the chick.
Oh yeah. I remember how irritated we were with the hosts. They were just so. . . irritating. Especially when they mentioned how the SOSE people were just out there in the field during the Blue Roast, studying or reading books. Stereotype, much? Please guys. We like bookish subjects but we're not geeks. Hell, we cram most of the subjects, we don't study it. Haha. I think I remember that the hosts are from SOSS and SOH.. And with comments like that, they are just reinforcing their own stereotypes: bimbos and airheads.
Some of my Syete friends ventured towards our group. One of whom is Kakki, who happily told us how she gave her blue rose to Fr. Nebres. Then she said she and her friends had a picture taken with him. She had her arm around Fr. Nebres' waist, to which she jokingly called herself as being "Pokpok?!" *points to herself* Hahahahaha. The Package Deal just loved that joke. To this day, it's a running joke for Jan, Ces and I. Anyway, we were so jealous of Kakki, we wanted a pic with Fr. Nebres as well!
At one point, I went out to look for Pau. It was a big night for her, I knew she has been praying and preparing for it for a long time. I just had to wish her good luck. And of course, I promised her years ago that I will be there to witness the whole thing from afar, give her my support . . . . no matter how I don't really approve of the guy for her. Hahahaha. I saw Kaycee and Pam Lo too, which was cool. Blue Roast won't be complete if there weren't some moments with my fellow Atenean hotchicks.
Then there was a time that Pau and I were left alone. There I was talking to her, when suddenly she reached out to stop this person walking by and talk to him. I looked at the newcomer . . . . . and he turned out to be the recipient of Pau's specially-bought long-stemmed blue rose! WTH!! I think for about 5 seconds I was just staring at the two as they converse, with my eyes wide and my mouth hanging open. I was so shocked. I said I wanted to witness the Pau's Blue Rose Scene, not be part of it!! Well, I did get a hold of myself, and probably just kept on an amused smile for the entire time. I listened to the conversation intently, as I knew Pau would most likely forget a lot of what he said. Finally, he left. I went over to congratulate Pau, and Kaycee and Pam came running over, squealing softly the way girls do. It was great. Still shocked over the whole thing though. Haha. Pau could have waited until I was out of the picture, can't she? Haha.
Later on, Father Nebres went over where we Bio peeps are. Waha, Jan, Ces, and I, along with a few others, scrambled for a photo op. And I gave him my blue rose. Hahaha! Pokpok?! *points to self* I was supposed to give my blue rose to Big J, along with Ces and Jan. But I don't know, it was just a spur of the moment thing. I just gave it. And I'm happy. :D
We decided we would the Blue Roast early and head to Embassy. It's not like we were really into the happenings of the party. Just as we started to leave, the video came on! Wahahaha. Now that was fun. Barbie, Polly Pocket, Land Before Time, Jem, Bioman, Masked Rider Black - haha, childhood memories. We all loved it. I loved the clips of the UAAP 2002 Championship, too. Love Gec Chia and his famous shot, haha. (Eto na naman, crush ko na hindi naman gwapo talaga. Hay.) Don't know if everyone else appreciated that, but I sure did.
Anyway, after the video clip, we went on to leave. We were at the parking lot near the cornfield, when BAM! The fireworks came on! My god, we have perfect timing really. The fireworks were coming from the cornfield, so we have a really stellar view of the whole thing. We were practically underneath all the fireworks. Loved the fireworks, and loved sharing it with good friends.
Finally, 9 of us made our way to Embassy: me, Ces, Jan, Candy, Reine, Gelo, Jose, Teejay and Biboy. All of us were expecting to pay at least P500 for the fee. But when Jose came back from the reception area, he told us that we just need to know the password for the guest list so we can get in free. Jan and I were willing to just pay the fee. Why care about the password, we're not even on the guest list. Hassle lang. But then Jose found out that there was a password given out during the Blue Roast for Ateneans who want to party at the Embassy for free. So we were all like, "Ooooooohhh!! What could the password be?? Di kasi tayo nakikinig e, haha!" We all were thinking that it must be some kind of complicated and unique password. I then decided to call my Syete friends who are Comm majors; they'd know these things. I was able to contact Pau. I asked her what the password was. When she told me, my mind just went blank. Nabobo ako e. My friends noticed the stunned look on my face as I hung up the phone. One of them asked my what the password was. I paused for a while, to make the scene more dramatic haha. We were all standing in a circle, all of them looking at me and waiting silently for the elusive and mysterious password. I opened my mouth and said:
"Blue Roast."
AMP.
Yun lang palaaa! Akala naman namin kung anong out-of-this-world password yun! Hahahaha, it was just the joke of the night. So we finally lined up on the VIP line, armed with that precious password. Then we spent two straight hours dancing, with no breaks, sitting down, or whatever. It was fun to see Bboy dance for the first time, and he wasn't shy about it at all unlike most guys. But it was wilder to see Teejay finally let loose and boogie with us. Teejay style, of course. It was just a great way to celebrate our upcoming graduation. We had enough talking, bonding, drinking, partying, and vacationing together for four years, dancing (and laughing our hearts as we do it) is the next best thing.
Afterwards, Ces, Gelo, Teejay, Bboy and I went to Something Fishy in Eastwood. Teejay and Bboy got hungry, ehe. The rest went home already. On the way to Eastwood, Ces and I went wild with the open rooftop of Teejay's car. He opened it for us to enjoy, and did we. We took pics for it. Mababaw lang kaligayahan namin hehe. But to ride along the Fort at around 2:30 AM, with the wind in the air and all our whooing, it was just fuuuuuun.
So the boys ate at Something Fishy, the rest of us just chilled. Then we all got home, happy, safe, and ready for the rest of the week. The Blue Roast experience is just the beginning.

On a side note, what did I do today, as in March 28, 2008? I celebrated with Kakki. It's her graduation from the Ateneo today! I'm so happy for her. She came back from HK for her grad, how cool is that.
I finally met her new bf, Kevin. He seems like a better match for Kakki. I also met Sevy, the 15-yr-old wonder from before haha.
Kat, Jill, and Pola came too. We hung out at the condo of Kakki's tita in Eastwood, which is damn gorgeous. Kat, Pola and I bonded, it was great. And I finally know what happened with Pola and Dylan. Pola, you're my idol. Posible pala yun, thanks. That's what I needed to know.
