The cap thing totally didn't work. Onto plan B, a circle in a band with a green ribbon rosette thing :)

I'm nearly done with the cap thing for the redingote. I have no idea if it's going to work. I've also prepared hairpieces to work on in place of the failed wig. One is drying, the other needs glue...

I started this at Costume College. Almost none was done, just the back hemmed and eyleted and one ear hemmed badly, which I redid. I used green ribbon instead of the pink I got there because it'll look better with the cotton sacque :)

I normally don't do this sort of thing, but padawansguide inspired me! So here goes :)

( My first costume was finished in the first few days of the year, and the last completed in the last few days! )

I'm pleased to report I've had much more successful millinery attempts tonight!

( First, the cap to wear with the stripey polonaise. For obvious reasons, it's just the cap, not the hat! )

I wired the brim of the straw hat for the anglaise, then trimmed the hat and cap for the shortgown. Why I switched, I don't know, but the end result is that the cap and hat are done ( Read more... )

Both bodice linings are cut and pinned. I haven't cut the main fabric yet because I really wasn't in the mood to match stripes tonight, or to deal with the en forreau back. I'm not looking forward to that. I'm not a huge fan of pleating things. But the look will be worth it ( Read more... )
