I've always had a few mental animations of Scientists teaching children about genetic modification (and Science!) in my head. Usually, it's meant to be a joke. Or at least contain one.
If you're at home or have access to television at 4:35pm (weekdays), turn the TV on (ABC, it's a children's cartoons series) and have a look at the show called "Grossology". I happened to pass by the TV at that time slot and saw many a strange thing.
Imagine a lab, with a scientist with Einstein hair, a labcoat and round glasses. And a woman who looks remarkably like Poison Ivy, but no way as awesome, and with bubblegum pink lipstick. The lab is filled with gaudy mechanical gadgets that seem to have been modelled after chunky machines from the 90s.
Poison-Ivy-Lookalike: Hi Doc, what are you up to?
Scientist: I'm a scientist, and I'm going to tell you about genetic modification. [turn to a moniter with a picture of a turtle and pig.] Every animal has its own DNA inside of them. Turtles have turtle DNA, and pigs have pig DNA. We can access the DNA from these animals, and take some of their DNA sequences and place it inside the DNA of another animal. This way we can share traits from one animal to another... AND CREATE MONSTERS THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BORN! =D Aghast.
P.I.L: [snoring on her tiny pedestal] AGHAST, I tell you!
It really did seem like something I would say, only projected onto television and broadcasted into a childrens' cartoon segment. Now I have something to watch.
wut,
genetic modification
