Hah. Fooled you all, cor blimey! There's no pics of drunken debauchery here! Just pics I happened to take on the hispanic holiday, hence the title of today's entry. First, I have the new pics of the kittens!
Now, one of little Spirit, who is quite healthy, no sign of deafness or blindness, said to be common in white cats. But she is getting very faint grey markings, so she will not be a solid white much longer. Likely, she will resemble her Mother, Kamala, but be even whiter! A nice, siamese type coloration.
Now, one of the chores I did yesterday was more mortaring of bricks... but I also got a wild hair and laid out the footing for my Cordwood addition to the Greenhouse. These pics only show the marks I scratched on the ground, but eventually you'll see some pics of the process as I build up the wall. I first need to dig out the clay and make a smooth, level surface for the footing. Then, pour concrete (since this is global warming Georgia, I am not worried about going below the frost line, though normally that is a serious issue) and run one row of concrete blocks and mortar together. The first course of log-ends goes on top of that. I have studied Rob Roy's methods of Cordwood alternative house-building for years, so I am not going in blind here. But this will be my first Cordwood project, so I'm glad to have a small one first to practice with.
The wall will gently curve out to make room for my woodstove. I will use the post and beam method of Cordwood construction to hold up the ends of the wall, where there is a tree now. I will not be cutting any trees down, either- I can fill in gaps between post and trees with clear plastic tarp. Eventually, the whole Greenhouse will be remodeled, bit by bit.
I also got the idea of using an old broken tire tread as a flowerbed border, but I don't know yet... it looks a bit cheap and funky to me. What do you think?
Lastly, I made some lovely ecards from pics of my flowers, just in time for Mother's Day! I am letting any of my friends use these images if they wish.
Peace,
Korak
