Hello Doctor
I've always liked Ratchet. He is, technically, one of my favorite characters. (It doesn't help that I OT3 him with Optimus and Ironhide...) Pretty much every incarnation of him is awesome, and imo, he doesn't get enough love as a character. I mean, most fics about him sum up to "LOL MEDIC FETISH" which is fun and all, but probably one of the reasons why he's less popular than Bumblebee or Optimus, out of the Autobots. I'm guilty of it too, since I've told almost no one of my interest in Ratchet before.
And then come notes that Ratchet was originally going to be a femme. And damn my brain, despite my strong dislike of gendered robots, I am all sorts of excited now. It probably has something to do with the line about "she gets away with more back-talking Optimus Prime". Which is canon for Ratchet now, but for some reason having a femme Ratchet back-talking her commanding officer and telling him to stop squirming while she fixes a torn wire, stern-faced ordering around the rest of her patients... mashes some kind of button I didn't even know I had.
Damnit now I need to think of how to write this. B|
