So
joules_burn got
Zumba for christmas. Unfortunately, she got in a car accident about a month ago, and her back is manifesting all sorts of problems. Her therapist is forbidding her from twisting her back or picking up heavy things. So I got to try it out first, to see if it's Wingmate Approved.
Holy shit this game.
The description of the game lists it as a "pairing of red-hot international dance steps with sexy Latin music" and boasts of "nine different dance styles: Reggaeton, Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Hip-Hop, Mambo, Rumba, Flamenco and Calypso."
I'm fucked.
So I popped it in. First of all, the tutorials are useless. They go too fast, and the sensor is... delicate. I opted for the "play it and fuck getting it right" option, and went straight into a 20 minute beginner workout.
The theme of this game is not "Get Fit". It's not even "Dance and Lose Weight". The theme of this game, and probably the entire Zumba fitness line, is "SHAKE DAT FAT OFF YO ASS". This is a game I could like.
It's about what you could expect out of a Latin-based dance workout routine. I have never felt more white in my life than when I'm trying to sway, shake, and jiggle my hips in the living room. I could've cried. But, at the end of it, my calf muscles were crying harder than they have at... pretty much anything else I've done. So it was worth it.
Overall? Could be a better game thus far. And I really suck at it. But damn if it didn't do its hardest to kick my ass, and it was still fun.
