Dear Kate,
Working for you this year has been a pleasure. I'm really grateful to you and the director for giving me a good experience working in Korea, and I will never forget that. However, there are some things about working here that are inconvenient for me. We didn't have time to talk about all of them at our meeting last Saturday, but after that meeting, I feel that there are too many things to ask you to change in exchange for ony four more months of work from me. It's not fair to you or the school, especially for those first few weeks of the vacation session during which I cannot be here.
When you asked me to stay longer, I was very touched that you liked me so much and wanted to keep me as a teacher, and I really wanted to help you by staying longer. However, after thinking it over, I realize that I cannot stay in Yangsan for another full year and it's not fair for me to ask you for everything I want in exchange for only four months. I think it will be easier for both you and me if you find a new teacher to start at the vacation session and stay for one year. Therefore, I think it is best that I leave the Oedae school when my contract ends on July 24, 2006.
I am sorry not to have given you firm decisions before this time, and I'm sorry to cause any inconvenience. I will always hope that your school is doing well, and I wish that I could help you, but for my personal reasons I need to leave. Thank you for understanding.
Sincerely, Katie
I am going to give this letter to my boss. Then I am going to find a new job near Haeundae (in Pusan, near the beach). I'm going to find an easy job with good hours and no weekends and my own apartment. This is what makes me feel alive.
