So I am thinking about extending my contract in South Korea until mid-December. Here are the reasons why it would be a good idea:
PROS:
* My job is relatively easy and my bosses love me.
* I will have steady income for four more months.
* Kathryn is leaving in July, so I won't have to deal with her anymore.
* I have some good friends here to hang out with.
* I really love my students. I get really sad when I think about leaving them.
* I get to sleep in every day.
* I can say whatever I want bc most people don't know enough English to understand me. This is sweet.
* I don't have to drive.
CONS:
* I MISS MY FAMILY AND MY FRIENDS AT HOME!!!
* The food here kind of sucks.
* In August, I will have to work shitty hours for a month. But then it's back to easy street.
* There's a possibility that I might be doing this to postpone making more decisions about the future. Of course I wouldn't admit this to myself, but years later I might look back and think that I was just being a coward. I don't know.
* I don't know what people will think of me. Spending a year over here is impressive. Continuing to stay here might me look like a failure who can't hack it back in the states. I don't know.
Now let's make a list about going home:
PROS:
* SEEING MY FAMILY AND ALL OF MY FRIENDS!!!
* Seeing my neighborhood again.
* Enjoying a month of summer. It will be beautiful.
* Eating delicious food.
CONS:
* Having no job and no money.
* Having no clue what I'm doing.
* Home is not going to be the same.
* All of my friends have probably moved on to new things and left me behind. I don't know if there's a place for me at home anymore.
* Hearing Englishy all around me all the time. There's something to be said about being able to live in your own little bubble when you don't speak the native language.
* I have to drive.
So here's what I'm thinking. Anybody want to hand me a guide map? j/k....sort of....hehe.
