Three-day weekend!

May 30, 2010 23:05

Woooooot! for the first time this quarter, I don't have to wake up early on a Monday! HAHA. It's such a great feeling, but I'll probably slowly prepare myself for the upcoming finals. (scary!)

On Friday, we watched Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightning Thief at one of those cinemas where you watch movies not already in the regular theaters, about 4-6 weeks after the movie was released. The movie was not that great and it could have been much better produced if more money was spent on good acting than 3D effects. It did still entertain and I got to learn a few more things about Greek mythology. For example, to escape Hell/Hades home almost instantly, you need to collect one of Persephone's pearls for each person who wants to escape, then when it's time, just crush the pearl on the floor while concentrating on the place where the person wants to go to. Talk about express hahaha.

On Saturday, my brother brought me to the New Folklife fair at the Seattle Center for some swing dancing with his friends. He took a Swing dancing class this quarter and enjoyed it a whole lot. I didn't take that class, so I had no clue how to dance. It was still fun but my brother's not the best teacher LOL. I did also get to observe the other people dancing and man, i had no idea swing dancing was this popular. There were so pretty good dancers from all ages. :D
Then, after that we just walked around and ate whatever we thought was good. We did stop by the huge fountain in the middle of the park (I think) and it was fun trying not to get wet. The spouts turned on at random and at different lengths so anyone within 5 feet was bound to get something wet. There were also a lot or performers and musicians. Some were pretty good and some were...a bit funny.

And this is very late (LJ alerted me but I still managed to forget) but Happy Belated Birthday Isa! I couldn't think of any fandom at the top of my head at the time but her Muse instantly came to mind. I drew her much younger though. (And if I remembered correctly, I think she wanted the dress in a blue-green gradient) XD As usual, click to download full-size.

This was supposed to be about star plucking, in reference to the stars in the muse's hair but i felt like adding other shapes. Originally each "fruit" were supposed to be colored differently but i kinda liked the idea of a tree with gold fruits....wait a sec, wasn't there a fairy tale about trees with gold fruits? Or am I mistaking it for the story of Kind Midas? LOL. O__O

aaaaaand then some wallpapers!

<== this one is my personal fave XD
