Yet again, china wtf :)

The PRC Government has blocked access from China to wikipedia again. *laugh* It's so bizarre.

That was the briefest window of access ever. This morning I said that the PRC Government seemed to have lifted the block on LJ. Last time they lifted it for 3 days. This time - it didn't even make it through a full day! :) I wonder whether Mr PRC Censorship accidentally hit the wrong switch. Or perhaps he wanted to read some fan fic at lj so ( Read more... )

I knew I was right not to get excited on Wednesday when China lifted the censorship block on LJ. They've put it back - this evening it appears. The removal of the block lasted all of three days ...

This is like when they unblocked wikipedia on 16 November 2006 and then reblocked it again on 18 November. Maybe they unblocked it by accident ... ( Read more... )

I was writing the other day that China had agreed to permit access to Wikipedia. About an hour ago, I wasn't able to access Wikipedia and had a Bad Feeling.

Just then ship_recs sent me the link to The Nanny changes her mind: Wikipedia blocked again which says:

Blogspot is still not accessible, but who cares. BBC UK I can access again, but I can now access Wikipedia without going through anonymouse. Yay.

I'm so pleased that Wikipedia is accessible again in China. I only noticed it the other night because I usually access it at work or paste the URL into anonymouse. I gave up trying to access the site ( Read more... )
