Madonna nostalgia :D [take 2]

Saturday night and I'm at the office finishing off some documents but I should be able to finish them at a decent hour. My iPod suddenly started playing "True Blue" by Madonna and I started to grin ( Read more... )

Being born in 1973, I am usually much older than most of the people on livejournal (I suppose I'm just immature :D so I wasn't expecting many people to also like Madonna ;) Alas her recent stuff has never quite matched up to her early stuff...

hee, I love all these songs. I think I was around seven or eight when "Lucky Star" came out so I use that as an excuse for my love for early(and middle I guess if you could call it that)Madonna. by high school, I had expanded my tastes had changed I still owned Vogue;)

I think "Get Into The Groove" is still my favorite- great beat. and I love the "Material Girl" Video!

*laugh* I was disconcerted by the fact that there are some people on my friends list (although very view) who possibly may not have even been born at the time I was watching the Barcelona concert on television :D Madonna was at her height during my late primary school early highschool years although I actually didn't really start liking her until maybe university and I kind of went backwards and rediscovered old eighties things. Into the Groove is excellent, something about the way she sings; 'you got to prove you love to meeeeee!" :D

Material Girl is just so much fun although the 'hero' with his scruffy beard is not my idea of a hottie :D

I know what you mean. I went back to college when I was 27 and it was weird, most of my classes were upper lever undergrad ones but I had to take a foreign language and there were several freshmen and sophomores in that class, some were just 17 years old! at least I looked (and still do though not quite as much)young for my age, one benefit of my avoiding the sun like a plague...

yeah, but of course that's kind of the point of the video, the whole thing's artifice, she goes for the guy who isn't all that "material".

I totally agree but he could have been the same guy without the facial hair! :D Or maybe the implication is that facial halr = spartan and abstemious ;)

Ah and Burning Up from around the same time is cool although it always reminded me of a Misfits song ie. from the cartoon Jem and the Holograms ;)

Love Madonna!
Saw here live (the virgin tour???) in 1984. I was a teenager and even though I never dressed like here, I sang her songs all the time :)

Thanks for letting me remember the 80s ^-^

I only saw her live when she first started out, but from what I remember she was very good. And since she has improved as she has aged, I bet her newer concerts are incredible to attend. She alawys seems to have so much energy!

As for cds/albums, I have almost all of them :)

*giggles*

I mentioned Madonna's white socks (which she wore for the Live Aid concert in '85, for example) in a comment earlier this morning, so reading about her early years now made me grin.

Also, I always liked Papa Don't Preach, but having been born in 1965 and thus easily qualifying as a fossil, I grew up without MTV and had never seen the video before. Thanks for mentioning and linking!

Ooooh the Papa Don't Preach video is very dramatic - I always get all choked up when her papa comes around and supports his little girl :D I'm such a sucker for MTVs with a storyline :D

It's naturally all your fault for me now having stuck the song inside my head. ;)

Also, it was fun to see that Danny Aiello is playing the "Papa" in that video. I do remember him from the mid-80s from the "Lady Blue" tv series.

And the bad boy looks way too cute and well-groomed to be someone to have been "warned all about", methinks. But then overly protective Papas probably think every boy belongs into that category. ;)
