Madonna nostalgia :D [take 2]

Saturday night and I'm at the office finishing off some documents but I should be able to finish them at a decent hour. My iPod suddenly started playing "True Blue" by Madonna and I started to grin.

Madonna during her peroxide blonde phase totally takes me back to my teen years. I never dressed up like Madonna, peroxided my hair or anything like that (hee!) but Madonna's Like a Virgin / True Blue / Like a Prayer albums are albums that I really associate with my teen years and early uni days.

True Blue. Video is here. She's so peroxided here but this song is just so cute.

No idea why but youtube is only letting me embed one clip.

Papa Don't Preach. Video is here. Probably one of the first songs by Madonna I really liked. I liked the idea of a song with a storyline and the MTV reinforced the storyline - all very dramatic :D

Live to tell. Probably the next song by Madonna I really liked. Video is here. I thought she looked very dramatic and lovely standing there in the darkness.

Like a prayer. Generally I prefer Madonna's studio versions because to be honest her voice isn't that strong in concert, but my favourite version of Like a Prayer is actually from her Blond Ambition Tour in Barcelona 1990. Man I am getting sooooooo old. I can't believe that that was 17 years ago. I remember watching it on tv, taping it and watching it over, over and over again :P Video is here

I loved the black outfit that Madonna was wearing, the arrangement and the dramatic-look of the whole thing.

Into the groove (I keep typing this as Intro the Groove :P ). I wasn't a huge fan of the movie Desperately Seeking Susan but I've always really liked this song. :D Video is here

Material Girl. I adore this song so much. There's something very sprightly about it that always peps me up. Video is here

Cherish. I used to really hate this song. I love it now, no idea what changed my mind :) Video is here. I think when I first hated it, I had just finished studying Romeo and Juliet in class and had watched the Olivia Hussey / Leonard Whiting version and cried. I felt offended on their behalf when Madonna dared to sing 'Romeo and Juliet never felt like this I bet' - I mean they killed themselves they loved each other so much and Madonna's just frolicking around in the waves with mermen looking sexy ;) Still, I do like the song now :)
