I'm knitting with my first chart, and while it has been intimidating and a little frustrating, it has also been a fun learning experience. Hi everyone. I want to make this vest but I've never worked from a chart before and my question is, how do you read it? Is it left to right for every row both rs and ws? Or how does that work?

Hi everyone! I have a quick question about the Knotty But Nice pattern on Knitty.comI am just about to do row 15 of the chart and it says to omit those two stitches on the first repeat only... does that mean that I just slip those two stitches and only work them when I do the cable at the end of the last repeat? I'm wanting to knit my boyfriend a hat for Christmas that has some fair isle color work in a geeky design.
