In other news.....
We went to St Malo on Monday, where it rained and rained. I managed to not get my steak frites again, but it was better than missing the ferry. Lots of people were ill on the ferry home, it must have been quite rough.
We went on a couple of nice walks and spotted a bumper crop of sloes. There may well be sloe gin in time for Christmas. We found the best beach ever, only accessible at low tide by a ladder and a scramble over rocks but very private.
On Friday morning we went on a RIB ride, which was great. We grabbed the front seats and it was an exhillarating way to wake up. We were very lucky to get close to some Risso's dolphins, just the other side of Herm.
My roof bars finally arrived.
glove_puppet bless her, spent many frustrated hours trying to figure out how to fit them. Thule obviously didn't want to make it easy, I think I may have given up. However, this does mean that I was able to go out on my windsurfer, when the weather picked up at the end of the week. I was very grateful to see my windsurfing instructor at the beach the first time I took it out. He showed me how to rig it properly, which was very useful. I was proud of myself, as I've become quite adept at hauling it on and off the roof of my car on my own. Poor old glove_puppet almost got the prize for most unhelpful friend from onlookers but I need to be able to do it unassisted.
