Wraps, again.
Directions and method: Normally I don't eat this much beef in a week, nor do I make wraps quite so close together. Unfortunately it's been very hot out and I wanted something quick and easy that would make me full body sweat for the least amount of time possible. I knew ahead of time that I would be eating wraps for lunch today since they were what I made for dinner the night before and there are always lots of leftovers. So I took photos this time!
Ground beef browning with garlic cloves. This was after I had drained off the fat.
With some spices and beef stock. Simmering away!
While the beef was simmering I chopped my veggies. The red and orange peppers were bought for $2.50. There are a couple of places in Chilliwack where they hang bags of peppers from either a board with pegs nailed between two trees, or a little mini shelter. You put your coins into the metal box, or the tin can attached to the tree, and you take a bag of peppers. They're usually freshly picked that day and taste better than any peppers you can get in the store, even when the ones in the store aren't all gross and wrinkly before you even buy them. I try to pick some up every time I go out to Chilliwack, and even ask my dad to bring me some other times as well.
Happy sludgy, cooked down beef - huzzah!
Hmm. . . something's missing. . . ...
AHAH!
All in all they were really good and easy to make. I think cooking to clean-up to eating time was just about 30 minutes, and most of that was just waiting for the beef to simmer down to the right consistency. Normally I would have avocado on them, but my avocados seem to be having rotting issues so I had to do without. They were a little spicy this time, too. Either the avocado usually tames things down just a little bit or I added a bit too much cayenne pepper this time.
. . .
And apparently I was still hungry though because 20 minutes later I decided to eat some grapes. They're really rather tasty this year, but now the inside of my mouth tastes like I've been eating candy. Maybe I should go brush my teeth. . .
