Well our second Thanksgiving dinner went well. Our friends left well-fed and happy after much delicious food, sci fi movies and Mario Party on the Wii. I was especially happy because I saw our friend Derek, who I now see a couple times a year if I'm lucky, so that was a nice unexpected bonus. Our other three friends who came I see on a fairly regular basis; but I'm always glad to spend time with them. Much as I love our relatives, this was (in some ways) a bit more relaxing.
I avoided Black Friday. While "good deals" abounded, none of them were things I wanted or needed. And after reading about the death at Walmart (Thanks for posting,
patgund!) I think it will be a loooong time before I participate in Black Friday again. Someone's life is infinitely more precious than a good deal. And while I love a good present or two, I think I'll opt out of the whole consumer madness. G and I will be making salt dough ornaments and cookies and other treats to give away and I have some other cool ideas I need to get cracking on.
Made a second batch of stock and we'll be having homemade turkey noodle soup for dinner tonight. It's interesting that I can smell all the aromatics (cinnamon, allspice, peppercorns, ginger, apples and onion) I used in yesterday's turkey more strongly in the broth than I could in the bird itself. Yum.
