Amazing.
...I can't believe it. The GW Men's team pulled off an A10 Championship victory tonight, and I'm still in awe. We Tivoed the game (only half the Band can sit courtside by NCAA regulations, so basically seniors went to that tournament) and after it was over we just watched those last five minutes over and over again. I possibly did victory laps around my coffee table. Just a few. I do know we called the Band TA and left an incoherent voicemail about how OMG I'm traveling (probably to Los Angeles) for the Women's tournament, which wouldn't be happening unless both teams went to NCAAs and holy crap the Men actually won the A10 Championship game!!!!!!!!
....*awe*....It wasn't supposed to happen. We were on nobody's brackets. The ESPN guys didn't want us to win, nor did they expect us to. We weren't even a bubble team, and now we have an automatic bid to the fucking NCAA tournament. We'll probably lose in the first round, but that's beside the point. We're now in a two-trip scenario (the Women are, like, number thirteen in the nation, so that's a lock), and since I'm only on the two-team scenario Band list for Women's NCAA, it's really all I need.
We definitely ran down the street singing "Final Countdown" and "We Are the Champions" after it was all over.
I'm so excited. So ridiculously excited.
