The perils of weekend fun

It's been a fun weekend, Went out to ye pubbe laste nite, which was a laugh followed by Ascension/Retribution.

The auld hoose was it's usual stirring fun, and somehow degenerated into a bizarre conversation about accents.
After that Ascension, and Retribution, Which was marked out in it's unusuality by being the first time I've gone there and bumped into a couple of old ex-mates; both of whom fell out with me either before, during or after they had brief dalliances with my ex-girlfriend.
While I entirely expected that both of them would resolutely refuse to look in my direction all night, What was most curious was the fact that they both completely blanked my mate Keith who was down from Aberdeen. Now considering he went to school with one of them and has no argument with either I find that just downright bad manners on their part. Still it didn't ruin what turned out to be a fantastic evening.
Now I don't know what it is about Ascension but I just can't build up any enthusiasm while I'm there. I think it's the music, too 80s. Not that downstairs is much better but at least I know more of it there.
Sillyness and many drinks later I recall vaguely singing Bohemian Rhapsody before buggering off home on my tod as viv wanted to go on to a party for which I was just too goddamn tired. (old age is bad kids) That was uneventful enough apart from the kid who got onto the bus covered in blood and brandishing a bloody-fiver at the bus driver which left a nasty smeary mark on the money box.
Bizarrely I also managed to sell two things on ebay by being out, as they were only put up mid afternoon and gone my the time i got home. Yay for 24 hour capitalism!

Today, I read through more than half of Warren Ellis' classic series of Graphic novels Transmetropolitan. It was astoundingly brilliant and I thoroughly recommend it. Now I just need to finish off Preacher, Walking Dead and Hellblazer. This was mainly because, being the kind soul I am I didn't want to wake the severely hungover viv who didn't appear home until after 6am and remained unconsious, (when not demanding cups of tea and paracetamol) until nearly 5pm. Since then it's been a quiet evening watching BSG and Corpse Bride.
ho hum... where's me pipe and slippers?

partying, comics, drink
