When Ruki and Reita met again they both had a very bad week left behind them. A bad week because they basically hadn’t talked to each other at all. Reita had only been moderately busy. He had been preparing for a new single, writing lyrics, celebrating the arrival of the new year and such. He actually had lots of time for Ruki. Ruki on the other hand had many things to do but was always online anyway. But the only things they exchanged were pointless matters. “How are you ?” - “Fine, you ?” - “Also fine,” and then there was usually a pause of several hours before something like “I’m tired,” came out of nowhere. “Yeah, me too.” And this for a whole week.

Ruki thought it served him right. Hadn’t he been so weak the other day, he would have been able to talk to Reita like usual. But he just couldn’t. He always had the voices of the three women in his head, telling him how right he was about his relationship with Reita. He was afraid of being hurt again if he came too near to him.

Then he was in almost the same situation like one week before. Reita was coming down the stairs, their eyes met for an instance before Reita quickly averted them to the ground. Ruki stopped in his tracks and only gazed at Reita who was currently walking towards him. Ruki hoped that he would stand still and talk a little to him, like always, but when Reita passed him he only heard a muffled “Hi” and nothing more. Reita didn’t stop. Ruki stood there. Eyes wide open.

He bit on his lower lip and tried to not burst into tears. While he was trying to put one feet after another, he heard the voices again. Only this time they were there for real. The three girls were soon encircling him, throwing those words at him again, casting poisoned glances at him. Ruki stood still again, tightening the grip around his bag. How he wished he could shout at them and tell them to shut up. But of course he couldn't.

“Aww, poor boy,” a grin, “does Reita not like you anymore ?” a mocking laugh.

Ruki didn’t have to look at their faces to see how dark they were. Obviously pleased with the power they had over the helpless boy, they began to hit him again. Two were punching and kicking him while the third one kept an eye on the corridor. They couldn’t risk that anyone caught them.

Ruki knew now how it was going through hell. This time he could clearly feel every new attack the girls started on him. One hit him so badly that he fell to the floor. He whimpered soundlessly and squirmed. Soon there were three pairs of feet kicking him. He couldn’t breathe anymore, the tears were running down on his face. But he still didn’t do anything to defend himself. He just hoped it would be over soon. Silently he closed his eyes.

As if his thoughts had been read, he heard footsteps nearing quickly, followed by the voice. It was Reita’s voice, wasn’t it ? He listened closer, tried to lift up his head. In his blurred vision he could see blond hair, beautifully shaped lips, worried eyes. They were looking at him, they were as close as never before. He heard him saying his name. Ruki closed his eyes again. Listening to this voice saying his name. Pure bliss.

The voice went from worried and soft to angry and loud, though. Reita basically screamed at the three girls, who were suddenly not as tall anymore as before. Reita was in rage. He felt as if he had never been this furious before. He told them bluntly what he thought of them, making it clear how much he despised them and how he disapproved of them ever having touched Ruki. The girls were quite, shamefully staring at the floor with nervously wandering eyes.

They were fired immediately.

After the girls had run away, Reita calmed down and looked after Ruki. His small friend looked really bad. There was blood running from his lips and his forehead, making Reita think that the three furies probably made use of their fists and feet like mad.

“Idiot, why didn't you do anything to stop them ?” He shifted Ruki into a sitting position and stroke some strands of hair out of Ruki’s face. Reita bit his lip. He felt responsible for what had been done to the blond since it were his staff members who attacked him.

Ruki was limp in Reita’s hold. Reita was really frightened, so frightened that he lifted Ruki up from the floor and carried him out to his car. He didn’t care about whatever work he had to do at the moment, Ruki had to be taken care of at a hospital.

--

Ruki was still in a daze when he woke up. He knew the white walls and the cold blue light in this room. He had seen them many times before. He also knew the scent that came from the fresh linen his head was presently resting on. Definitely a hospital.

He turned his head to the right. It was painful, his stomach was aching, his limbs were numb, his head was plagued by a throbbing headache and he had to close his eyes before opening them again. The sight that greeted him when he did so made him believe he was dead and in heaven though.

Reita was sitting on a chair beside the bed, his head set on one hand while his elbow rested on the other. His eyes were shut, several strands of hair covered his beautiful face, his chest rose and sank from his slow breathing. Ruki observed his thin lips, his nose - especially his nose as it was a part of his body that hardly anyone got to see - his closed eyes and how his eyelashes rested against the skin of his cheeks and how the sunlight that fell through the window and immersed Reita in a beaming glow. Ruki felt his heartbeat go faster. His gaze wandered from Reita’s face to his shoulders, his perfectly shaped arms, his frame, to the long legs. Ruki tried to calm down his breath by looking at the ceiling.

“Hello sunshine,” Ruki was taken aback when he heard Reita’s voice suddenly. “Do you feel better ?” Still startled, Ruki nodded. He hoped that Reita hadn’t seen how he was gaping at him. But Reita was only smiling this smile of his. Ruki sat up, slowly, his whole body hurt but he actually felt like he could move. He looked at Reita questioningly. He felt the urge to say something but of course he couldn’t. He made writing movements with his hands. Reita took the hint and reached for Ruki’s bag, taking the Locutor out of it and handed it over to Ruki.

“What happened ? When can I leave ? ” Ruki hoped he could leave soon, because he had a bunch of work to do and couldn’t stay at the hospital for too long. Reita explained hesitantly what happened to Ruki at the company building and told him that he had passed out. He had to take him to the hospital because he was so anxious about him. Ruki’s heart fluttered at that. Reita seemed to be really worried. About him !

“You can leave immediately if you want. They’ve taken care of all your injuries and as long as you can walk you’re allowed to go. Can you stand ?” Reita stood up and offered his hand to Ruki. Ruki’s hands began to tremble slightly when he reached out to take it. He put his feet on the ground and hold onto Reita’s hand tightly. Oh, these hands. Ruki never felt something as good as this before. He felt Reita’s skin on his skin with every fiber of it, their hands fit perfectly together - but he didn’t dare thinking about it any second longer and dismissed the idea again quickly.

As he tried to stand up, his legs almost gave in, not from the numbness and pain in them but from the wave of feelings that rushed through him. His knees wobbled and he tensed the clutch on Reita’s hand. Reita thought for a moment Ruki would fall over and was glad when he didn’t.

Unexpectedly fast, however, Ruki let go of him and reached for his bag instead. Reita watched the smaller man checking if he had everything and saw how he headed for the door. Before he opened it, he looked back at Reita. He tilted his head and looked at him with a pout on his face. The sight was too adorable, Reita thought. He walked over to Ruki and pushed the door open, brushing Ruki’s shoulder in the act. Reita blushed at this and almost excused himself. To hide the pink color on his cheeks he quickly shoved Ruki out of the door.

They went back to the building together. Reita asked Ruki whether he could come with him to Ruki's office. He had some lyrics to finish and some tour goods to design and he’d rather had some company than sitting in his room all alone. Ruki didn’t know whether he should agree on this. It was sure from the beginning that Reita would be too much of a distraction ... but he couldn’t say no.

It was late at night when Ruki finally finished the translation. He would have been finished a long time ago if Reita hadn’t been there, but he didn’t care about it. They finally talked again, and so much that they made up for every conversation they’d missed the previous week. Ruki smiled a lot, he even made attempts at laughing, but since no sound would come out he felt rather embarrassed when he tried. He felt a lot more comfortable when he was only smiling.

However, he totally forgot that time and time tables existed and at 1 a.m. it suddenly struck him like a canon ball. Oh shit, he had missed the last train ! With a horrified look on his face he clutched his hands to his hair and sank in his chair. It made a dramatic and strange impression on Reita. Ruki typed directly in his computer this time, not using the Locutor, and whined about sleeping here in the office this night. Ruki didn’t have a drivers licence, therefore he took the train to go to work. Reita very well undertood his misery.

“Why don’t you come with me ? I have a guest room you could use,” Reita gave the other a heartily smile. This was the next step in their friendship. Reita would show Ruki where he lived. To his surprise, though, Ruki protested heavily. With all his might he seemed to be avoiding to come with him. Ruki was indeed petrified by the idea of going to Reita’s home. This was just too much.

Nevertheless, he didn’t have the slightest chance to turn down Reita’s offer. Reita kept on and on at him, so that he could finally persuade him in the end.

--

Ruki gasped. This was where his idol was living, then ? For a flat in Tokyo, this place was huge, gigantic actually. It had a living room that was bigger than his whole flat, a kitchen, a nice bath and two other rooms, one of which was Reita’s bedroom and the other one, Ruki assumed, was the guest room.

He looked at the furniture, at the pictures that were hanging on the walls, at all the details he could find from the spot he was standing on. Reita thought he was glued to that spot after he didn’t move for five whole minutes. He told him that he could make himself at home but when he came back from the bathroom, Ruki was still standing at the very same place.

“Hey, what’s up ? There’s a couch, you know ?” Reita chuckled and Ruki pouted. Reita shoved him over to the couch, which stood in the middle of the living room, and made Ruki sit on it. It was a very comfy couch, in fact. Ruki liked it. However, he didn’t dare moving in Reita’s apartment. He was too amazed by all this splendour and too afraid he might break something with his clumsy behaviour. He made himself as tiny as he could so that he wouldn’t touch too many things with his presence.

“I’m gonna look for a blanket for you in a minute. Is there anything else you’d like to have before going to bed ?” Reita leaned over the couch and turned his head to Ruki. Ruki looked back at him and blinked a few times before shaking his head. Reita stood up again and ruffled Ruki’s hair. Ruki’s blush had the color of a deep crimson.

When Reita came back another five minutes later, he still hadn’t moved an inch. Reita had to wake him up from his daze. He showed Ruki the bathroom and then said goodnight to him before he vanished to his room.

Until Ruki was lying in Reita’s guest bed it took him an eternity. He had been overly careful with every move he had made when he had been in the bathroom. But he found the bed extraordinarily comfortable. The whole flat was full of Reita's presence, Ruki felt overwhelmingly save and happy. He was fast asleep immediately.
