The Great White North

Jan 07, 2009 13:35

Ok, this post is going to seem like a whole bunch of random, and it is. Blame it on the weather.

Today, it's like someone left a very high-capacity slushee machine on and didn't turn it off. That's what the roads are like and it's proceeding to melt and just make all kinds of puddles.

Now, I'm going somewhere with this - what looked like a seemingly innocent puddle, turned out to be a small moat and I totally drenched my foot.

I got a soaker

The reason I write this is, it reminded me of Christmas Eve and how we were watching Strange Brew (it was on Uncle Dave's satellite) and I love the MacKenzie brothers .... and really, my cousins didn't have a clue, which made me want to faint for their lack of not knowing such huge Canadian icons. But at one point, Bob (Rick Moranis) said 'I've got a huge soaker eh!' and I was wondering...

Is 'getting a soaker' a Canadian term?

So I invite you, dear F-list, if you're Canadian, American, European, enlighten me and let me know if you've ever heard this term before.

*end randomness*

canadiana, weather, random
