Oh dear, it looks as if I've neglected the ol LJ yet again... but it was the holidays and I don't think anyone can blame me seeing as how we had about a million people to visit, places to go for dinner, shopping on boxing day - or as we came to call it 'XBoxing Day'. Yes, we've added the XBox 360 to our gaming arsenal and it's so much fun! Once you got over all the configuration frustration of linking it up to the home network and then having it synch up with Windows Media Player on the main computer, she's all good. So just today I've been playing Lost Odyssey for what seems like all day while all of the laundry that piled up over the holidays got done! Woo, yay me!
The holdays were frantic, but fun. I was a little more 'meh' about Christmas this year than I hoped to be, I don't know what it was... I guess it just happens to the best of us at some point. But seeing family and friends made up for it! Went to Uncle Dave's new house for Christmas Eve where we had roast from the BBQ, homemade raviolis of course, and other great goodies like a cheesecake you could kill for! I also finished a pair of socks I was making for Ray for Christmas, talk about cutting it close!
Christmas day was great as well, we slept in, opened pressies - I got the new Killers CD as well as the new City and Colour CD from Ray, along with some 'personal items' - got some cool new knitting needles and Nigella's Christmas book. My brother gave me one of his paintings, my favourite one of his actually. He works in a style called 'Low Brow Art' and is very popular in Cali right now... or so it seems as that's where he sends his art. Of course we got some cash and then we went over to Mum & Dads where there were more goodies in the stockings, like a 'drop-spindle' for spinning wool into yarn.... I still have to look it up on youtube so I can do it right, I learn by sight, not by reading unfortunately.
Boxing Day we went out with Ray's dad and had some lunch, went to see 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' which was very good indeed. I never saw the original but I'm betting it's good and now I will have to see it. We went back to the house and just hung out, it was a great time as always.
Then we had to go back to work for a few days (bleh) but it was alright, cause Monday night we went to see
draconis_magus and
shadowhawck! Again, always a great time and we got to give them the presents we picked out for them, and got lots of lovely stuff in return!!! I especially liked my 'Yarnaholic' mug (which I used today) and my 'I'd rather be knitting' t-shirt which I really do want to wear to work. Ray was ecstatic when he got his '1-up' mug with the green Mario mushroom on it which he's saving for hot chocolates! ;)
A couple more days passed and then New Years was upon us, and Ray and I headed up to Kitchener to visit with some friends and because
Spirits were playing the New Year's Eve concert at City Hall! I think that night tops the list in my NYE history! There was a skating rink in front of City Hall which I thought was brilliant and I wish I had known, I would've dug up my skates! But the show... just OMG, my toes were frickin frozen and I couldn't feel them, but I was so happy watching the guys play, they did an awesome set and played my two favourites 'Controlled Wildfires' and 'Heart Pump'. The songs aren't released yet, but trust me, if there was a reason to go see them other than they're generally the best band ever, it's those two songs. After the set we were invited to an after-party which was a great surprise! We didn't really expect it and were delighted to go and talk with everyone. So often when we go up to see a show, there isn't a whole lot of time to talk with everyone seeing as the clubs are busy, the guys are busy and people have to be elsewhere the next day (including us) so this was a great chance to catch up and have a bit of fun! And we did... till about 4am! LOL!!!
We went back home and played XBox all day, well, Ray did, I had no desire to play 'Bioshock' ...v. disturbing game. But the next day, I went with my Mum & Dad to Lewiston and then hit the fashion outlets. Yeah, I went a little nuts at the Guess outlet and got two purses... one of which could hold a whole other outfit if I needed it, on top of all the other crap I jam in my purse normally, plus a new wallet to match le Huge Purse. Then, we headed over to Nana's for spaghetti with her famous sauce... I never ate so much in all my life. When there's Nana's sauce around, you have to get it while you can!
This weekend was cleaning... even though the house doesn't look like I did anything (how does that always happen anyway?), but I did, I did dishes yesterday and then, like I said earlier, did all the laundry while playing the XBox today.... oh yeah, kinda splurged and got myself a PSP as well and am being a horrible enabler and trying to get
draconis_magus to get one too (you know you want one!). So, other than knitting all the time, cleaning, going out and visiting.... I've been sleeping and not wanting to go back to work. So if you're wondering where I've been, that's where.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, Hannukah, Solstice and a very happy New Years!! All the best in 2009 and keep smiling!
