Blargh.
Spent a great deal of time today looking up information regarding the proper forms and documentation is necessary to sponsor a relative planning on immigrating to the US. My mom seemed to think it was easier than it ended up being because...god, she really doesn't get the fact that some things are a lot more difficult than they sound. I'm relieved that it wound up being easier than expected, but that was after the endless phase of looking things up and talking to people and trying to figure out exactly what we were supposed to be doing and...argh.
The best part though? My brother was over with the kids and so was drafted into the effort. And I was so, so delighted because he has no idea how often my mom pulls stuff like this. She made me write a condolence letter for a co-worker's husband when I'd never met the woman in question and my only instructions were 'make a nice one' before she scurried off to do god knows what. (This is just an example of the things she has me do, and for once it was nice to be (mostly) on the sidelines.)
