Yesterday I went to a protest/rally about Egypt. There were only about 20 people (myself included) but it was pretty magical. True, there could have been more energy, but all in all, I'd say it was fairly successful. I mean, yeah, 20 people out of 200,000+ isn't impressive, but we got a LOT of honks of appreciation and fist pumps and thumbs up. In fact, I kept looking for the negative reaction, and only saw one or two. It seems that most people didn't know what was up, but those that did seemed to enjoy us. Spreading awareness is important.
Speaking of awareness, it has become apparent to me how unaware I am --spiritually. I know, I don't often delve into this issues, but the more I participate in RCIA and go to mass, the more interested I am in these issues. It's only natural, really. What we expose ourselves to really influences our thoughts. (Side note: I just got a hankering to read Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent.) I wish we had a freer media, but in this day of the internet, and it being relatively available to all, I worry that few are capitalizing on it. I worry about a lot of things.
Like I said yesterday, I feel as if I'm waking up from a slumber. Speaking of waking up from slumber, 'tis time to go back upstairs and study some...
