I've actually been busy and social and hanging out in a quartet lately. After last Friday's booze-soaked adventures, things have been keeping a steady pace.
Saturday I woke up early to go to the Escalon Parade. It was pretty good. That night we went to the casino. That was a mistake; Black Oak is particularly busy those nights because of their 20,000 dollar giveaway.
Sunday started off dull and listless. I know that anytime I am listening to NPR on Sunday, particularly a Prairie Home Companion, I've wasted too much time in bed that day. Fortunately, Wesley's parents went out of town, so we were able to hang and drink at his house. It was a splendid affair, actually. I had a citrus-flavoured Moscow Mule (vodka + lime juice + ginger ale). Most bars don't seem to have ginger ale.
We watched It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, which I found out wasn't particularly good. Oh well. So it goes.
Monday Alpo, Ewok, and Wheat came over to my house to swim. Alpo and Ewok, incidentally, are females. They both went away to college (Alpo to Puget Sound in Washington state and Ewok to Washington and Lee in Virginia) who are in Modesto for the summer. Well, Ewok is here for the forseeable future. Alpo is joining the Peace Corps. She leaves for Africa in September-ish. Wheat, well, he's my main Modesto buddy, part of The Trio (me, him, and Brian Green). I digress.
Tuesday was 40% off pizza, more swimming, and a trip to Black Oak. I have rarely done that bad at cards. I lost twice on 20 within the first three hands of Blackjack I played. Pizza was without my quartet but with my family. Actually, tuesday, the quartet didn't get together at all.
We did, however, get together yesterday. Yesterday was more drinking at Wesley's house and watching Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid and introducing Ewok to Mad Men.
Today we swam again and went to Milkshake Happy Hour. That was about it. I took a lengthy nap afterward. It was okay.
Been trying to do some minor reading here and there (if only wikipedia articles) to rebuild my stamina an interest in the written word. I haven't read a book since March. It is starting to worry me even more, actually. But, I digress. Demons aside, life is good right now.
Oh, and I'm doing job hunting online. I want to get out of this place, if it's the last thing I ever do. Yeah. Actually, I'll probably find something local and then hightail it out of here. We'll see.
The future, she is ripe.
