14 hours of greatness
I spent 14 hours with my best friend today. It was a pretty magnificent day, all in all.
I woke up early because, well, that seems to be the thing to do. (early = before 9)
We had breakfast at the "greasy spoon" (Old Mill Cafe). I had the french toast. They have really good bacon. As Wesley pointed out on our way to breakfast, I was in a good mood: I was singing and driving cautiously. Normally, I drive with reckless abandon.
Some bad things did happen today: issues with the car battery and I did bump into someone's car. The latter was strictly my fault and totally not due to alcohol. Though today was saturated in alcohol.
After breakfast, we hung out, watched Charlie Rose (Robert McNamara footage), and returned a video. (Earlier this week we were having our Star Wars marathon and this year we decided to watch all 6, and no one had episode II, so I rented it). Do people really still rent things in the year 2009? I mean, I know there's netflix, but I mean, do you use a brick and mortar store for rentals? I'd be curious to know. Modesto used to have about 4 or 5 Blockbusters and now only has 2. But I digress.
We went to the bar. Today, my dear friends, we tried a new bar. Why did we try this new bar? Because our regular bartender at our regular bar suggested that since I enjoy trying fancy mixed drinks we migrate over there. fun stuff.
After the bar visit (which was spectacular) we had chinese food. After that, we went to hang out with Alpo and E-Lisa. We played Chronology, drank more, went back downtown, returned to Bachus (the new bar), and then came back to my house to play Apples to Apples.
I paid 11 dollars for one drink today.
Alcohol I consumed today:
(between 2 and 3 pm)
-Stoli Raspberry Vodka and Red Bull
-Walton Punch (a vodka-based concoction)
-1 shot Bombay Sapphire and a Widmer Hefeweizen (shot of gin and a beer back)
-Wild Orchid (the first drink I had at Bachus and paid 11 dollars for) (a gin-based concoction)
(after 8 pm)
-Tropical Lei (some fruity specialty drink that was actually quite bad)
-OLD-FASHIONED (because, well, I love Mad Men)
Oh, I forgot to mention, I got a haircut today, too.
