I finally got back into Tales of Symphonia 2 (or ToS: Dawn of the New World or ToS: Knight of Ratatosk if you want to be specific) after having many months of "well, I guess I could play it. But then there's ___." Well, I've run out of ___ and this is one of the only games I have left that I haven't beaten, so.
Let's seeee. First, I don't really like Emil OR Marta that much. I think it's probably just because there's all the other characters from the first game for me to compare to and of which I have fond teenage memories with. Even though, let's be honest, the main characters (Lloyd and Colette) from the original always irked me too. I tend to go more for side characters in Tales games, I guess.
HOWEVER, I do have many favorite things about this game. Mostly Tenebrae. At first I really hated him and his attitude, but oh holy shit, Tenny, I love you now. You and your puns and your humor and how no one listens to you about light-frogs. When he left for a bit I was so empty without him. Which brings me to one of my favorite lines:
"So, how was the Temple of Darkness?"
"It was... really, uh, dark."
It's so lame and yet. I don't know. This is how I would be in an RPG, I'd imagine. "So, how was that place you had to go through without me? Yeah, a bitch, wasn't it?"
SO BASICALLY THIS GAME NEEDS MOAR:
1. Zelos
2. Tenebrae
3. Philosopher's Stones; because daaa-yum, I cannot find these anywhere
4. Kratos?! Yeah, who are you, Symphonia team, to go deciding the canonical ending like that.
5. Zelos. Yeah, I love you, you player.
Once I am finished with the (most likely) unsatisfying ending that will only confirm my feelings that Tales of the Abyss deserved a sequel more than Symphonia, I will have
Arc Rise Fantasia to look forward to on (if Amazon is correct) June 30th! Featuring the loverly character designs of Kenichi Yoshida aka that guy who did Eureka Seven! ♥♥♥
