original HOW THEY END UP IN THE SAME PLACE (or “metababble about that ‘verse I mapped out”)
When Facebook goes up it is almost immediately harshly regulated by BL/ind. At this point Mark and Eduardo are at Harvard and in love. Mark leaves to go to California and Eduardo graduates from Harvard and follows Mark to California. There are no dilutions because BL/ind is pretty much in control of Facebook and Mark+Eduardo are kind of railing against them.
It is now 2013 and Facebook is now completely under BL/ind control. Mark has gone missing and Eduardo is put in charge of monitoring Facebook. Pissy and rebellious, Mark has run out to the zones and encounters (eventually) Show Pony. Bitter and railing against BL/ind, Mark starts hacking into their systems and making it totally obvious. He does this under the handle “w4rd0” because he’s an asshole. Eduardo knows zilch about computers and eventually, BL/ind figures out that it’s Mark.
Unlike other rebels, though, Mark doesn’t engage in fights. He mostly hangs out with Show Pony and Dr. DeathDefying, which is how he goes seven years without so much as being sighted. Party Poison keeps trying to get Mark to join their crew, but Mark always just raises an eyebrow and gives him this look like “are you serious I can’t shoot for shit.” Eventually, though, Mark needs to get somewhere to get replacement parts for his laptop and he ends up being escorted by Jet Star.
They get captured.
HOW THEY END UP TOGETHER (or “my pavlovian response to korse is stockholm”)
So Korse, who already has his fingers wrapped around Eduardo, decides that the best chance he has against the Killjoys is to get Mark under his thumb. He manipulates Eduardo into helping him and Mark is a pissy bastard who doesn’t want to submit and there is a lot of threatening of Eduardo (because Korse figures out very early on that Mark doesn’t respond to threat on him) and finally Mark breaks down and is beautiful and submissive and helps Korse capture the Killjoys.
(this is not what actually happens in the universe.)
Alternately, Swiftverse: Korse is in Mark’s computer class and he’s pretty good at it so Mark befriends him and starts to take a liking to him and Korse has pretty much given up on Party Poison so they start going out and Eduardo is like “noooooooooo ;_______;” from behind some bushes.
