Picture yourself on a train in a station

Man, ScapBook has some interface issues. Aside from the fact that all the management options are poorly linked and laid-out, I could not for the life of me get it to show automatically generated tag-galleries at the top level, even when I explicitly told it to. I've made a dummy gallery and added some tags to it meanwhile... but you don't have to mess with that unless you want to see even more random crap, since I'm posting the more interesting [user perceptions may vary] ones below the cut.

This is going to cover Dragon*Con, a few other recent outings, and whatever other junk ended up on my cell phone recently.

First, though, an inexplicable rest-stop sign:

This sentence no verb.

Some Dragon*Con sights:

Ted Naifeh is looking sharp. If you haven't read Courtney Crumrin or Polly and the Pirates, you should.

Random awesome: at a Brit Humor panel, who should walk in but Jon Lenahan, the voice of Talky the Toaster from Red Dwarf.

Tom Smith brings da filk.

Other stuff:

This nifty moth was hanging out on a wall in downtown Hillsborough.

My god... it's full of stars. Also of tasty watermelon-flesh. Hooray for strange produce at the farmer's market.

I found this crazy drink at an Asian market in Durham. It appears to be a suspension of basil seeds in green tea. I have not yet worked up the nerve to try drinking it.

Yes, we have a drought: this is about 50 yards *into* the local swamp. Note that standing in the creek-bed is not proving detrimental to my overall state of not being wet.

That's probably enough for one post. The terminally curious can follow the dummy gallery link above for more random.
