Everything Else

Let's see, what else was going on in the month since I last updated...

Back in early October, rooms at the Marriot for Dragon*Con sold out in, like, minutes. We managed to reserve a couple rooms (on spec of how many people we might get to go with us; we can always give one up later), but only for Fri-Mon. Not sure what we'll do on Thursday night yet...

I had a momentary urge to see how many of the items in Katamari Forever are in Scribblenauts. This is what's known as a Terrible Idea. (Later I platinum'd Katamari Forever. Giant Cowbear only took about an hour this time around...

Fully functional NES controller coffee table.

Went to the Escapism film festival at the Carolina in Durham and watched The Last Unicorn and the original Battlestar Galactica on the big screen. Fun. Hadn't seen TLU in ages (I'd forgotten some of the awesome snarky dead-pan lines, and the pirate cat) or BG ever (oh god so 70s).

My little brother got me a book of make-your-own liqueur recipes for my birthday. It's the gift of infinite girly drinks! I recently finished some ginger-cinnamon, which I need to try out. Conni's got a jar of pomegranate started.

On Oct 22, I saw an awesome sun dog rainbow all the way while driving in to work. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_dog)

Went to the NC Stat Fair with Erin, David, Kevin, and Emily. Deep fried Wisconsin cheddar was had as per usual. Saw crazy chickens. Next day went to the Ren Faire in Charlotte with Conni, Mo, Nolan, Britt, and Britt's fiance Ben. Also fun times. Got a replacement for my engagement ring that was originally bought there a decade ago and was lost last Animazement. Unfortunately it was cold and I seem to have got it about 1/4 size too small.
Speaking of friends, we threw another Halloween party, which was still more fun times and yummy food.

I'm pretty sure one night on the way home from COUP I saw a large coyote crossing MLK/Airport just south of Estes. Bit far into town for him...

Been playing Tekken 6. (Well, mostly Conni's been playing, but whatever.) Mostly fun, though the online netcode is a bit crappy, and the scenario mode story is completely ludicrous (and the random number generator that gives you stat-up items likes to taunt you).

Finally, have some awesome Martian landscape photos from the Mars Observer (link via dresdencodak).
