*ahem* I'm gonna be a Baroness! I'm gonna be a Baroness! *dances and sings*

So, you know how I was mildly (ha!) freaking out about Lupercallia? Well, we won! Drogo and I are going to be stepping up as Baron and Baroness of Allyshia at March Crown on March 21. Whee! And the members of the Barony are pulling together to make us look good when we step up. The current design is a royal blue short-sleeved cotehardie (11 panel!) in a linen/cotton blend with tippets in white and false undersleeves in gold dupioni silk for me (I'm hoping for some sort of underdress, as well, since I chill easily), and a knee-length buttoned gown in the blue linen/cotton with big sleeves lined in the white silk over a Herjolfsness-style tunic in the gold silk and either black or dark green linen hose for him. Luckily, I'd already started on a body block, but I think they may have to do one for Drogo. (EDIT: see below for translations)

At some point, I'll probably put up the 17-stanza terza rima that I wrote for the chronicle, but for now, I think I've babbled enough. <3

The whole thing's still slightly overwhelming, but it's more fun now that I know for sure what's happening. This means, for instance, that I am definitely staying in Arcata for the summer, so I will be looking for a job up here.

On a totally different note, my skin is doing much better. Yay!

EDIT: Translation of my costume-babble has been requested. So, here goes. These are not exact, just trying to give an idea.

-cotehardie: mid to late 14th century overdress, very fitted in the sleeves and upper body and flaring from the upper hips to a full skirt (men wore a similar garment that fell to between mid-thigh and knee during the same time-period by men)

-tippets: white streamers attached to cotehardie sleeves at mid-upper arm

-Herjolfsness: a bunch of 14th century clothing, including several tunic-ish garments, was found in a bog at Herjolfsness

-gown: in this case, a man's overgarment (not a dress!)

-hose: fitted, footed legwear worn by men and women (not modern pantyhose!)

-body block: a personal torso pattern used for making clothing tailored to a specific person
