So apparently Godard (you know the guy who spent years making movies against the establishment of Hollywood) is set to receive an Honorary Oscar this year. Except no one can find him to let him know.
http://goldderby.latimes.com/awards_goldderby/2010/08/honorary-oscars-going-to-four-.html Part of me feels is someone did tell him and he is purposely staying out of touch. It seems the Godard thing to do since I don't think he cares about Oscars. XD
Other honorees this year will be Eli Wallach, Francis Ford Coppola & Kevin Brownlow.
Coppola is not exactly in need of awards but I admit giving due to Wallach and Godard is nice. And of course I approve of Brownlow who is a notable film historian and preserver (he's my kind of guy).
Of course I am still mad that the stupid Academy took this part out of the actual Oscar Ceremony. Apparently they think lame musical numbers & comic skits are more important. I don't blame Godard if he doesn't show up. Even though he definitely deserves this award. It's too long coming if you ask me.
