No more Torchwood after the miniseries thing? Truly a tragedy. I shall pine away for it every night, my heart aching with loss.

I really hope there is more SJA after series three. Stories like The Temptation of Sarah Jane (which should blatently have been "The Last Temptation..." instead, just because) and Mark of the Berserker have demonstrated beautifully just how flipping good this show is and that it deserves to last as long as possible.

On a vaguely Who-related note, have you seen the first episode of the new historical (Stewart era) drama The Devil's Whore starring John Simm? It was great - just the kind of period drama I like (i.e. actual drama and blood and the occasional fantasy bit).

You sound so upset about Torchwood, how will I console you? XD

But I actually think TW will have 1 more full season in 2010 and that will be its last and SJA will have its final season in the fall of 2009 if things don't change.

And yeah despite being a "kid's show" SJA really does drama better then many "adult shows" in my opinion.

And yes I am definitely watching the Devil's Whore it's a historical drama and stars John Simm two of my favorite things so I couldn't miss it. Glad to hear you are watching it as well. XD

There's no consoling me. I fear I shall whither away in despair.

I wonder if they'll FINALLY get it right with one more full series. If they do and it's the last one I'd probably laugh about the irony of it all. And I'll probably watch the whole thing as usual, even though I'm sick to death of John Barrowman who's EVERYWHERE on UK telly.

It absolutely does. The way it tackles quite dark, real life issues in a very mature, sensible way is quite breathtaking. Alzheimers, death, divorce... it's just great.

Aside from Simm (who's easily the coolest character in it), it's got a great cast as well. And it looks bloody gorgeous. Just really good stuff, and I'm quite picky when it comes to historical drama. Andrea Riseborough being in it is an added plus - I have a massive crush on her. She

...would be a great companion in Doctor Who.

Oh, the woes of not being arsed to buy another paid account. >_>

...I...REALLY need to catch up on SJA (only seen the first two episodes, I think) and I don't know why I haven't started Paris-hen, because I LOVE NC...

I'm so behind |D

The 2nd season of SJA is really brilliant. I do miss Maria but the stories are as good as ever. The last two were especially great. So yes you should catch up. XD

And I am enjoying the 2nd season of Nodame too. The good thing about it is the animation of the concert scenes has improved. The negative thing is they are skipping a lot of scenes and rushing through the concert scenes.

They do D:

Maria does make a small cameo in one of the episodes though later in the season. And while I don't like the new girl as much as Maria she isn't a bad replacement and her family is cool.

I'm actually glad. My opinion on Moffat aside (I mean there's no evidence that Moffat would be in charge of the spinoffs anyway), if RTD/Gardner/Collinson are leaving Who, he's leaving the entire franchise and while Doctor Who is not his and so it makes sense someone else would take it over, SJA and Torchwood are his shows. I don't like the idea of handing them over completely to someone else. There's no chance of anyone fudging around with the way he's chosen to tell their stories, and I can't really see that as a bad thing. It always makes me worry to see a show/book/movie series/etc passed onto someone who isn't the original creator.

That being said, if Torchwood kills Rhys, I'm disowning it. And even though I'm glad, it's also sad because I'll lack Whoniverse to watch.

And I do care about your SJA posts. I'm just... woefully behind on all of my shows so I haven't been reading them because I don't want to be spoiled!

I was half joking about no one caring. I understand about not wanting to be spoiled. I think you will really enjoy this season too so I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

As for it ending in the 3rd season I do understand their reasoning and while I will be sad to see it go I don't think it's a bad thing. My philosophy is always for something to end with the audience wanting more then for it to go on until the audience tires of it. That way you will be left with good memories of it and not thinking that used to be so good.

And with 3 seasons it will sort of be like a trilogy which is a fun way to think of the series. Either way I am happy we are getting 1 more season at least.
