Didi strolled down Main Street, his husband Tino hanging onto his arm. Indian summer was nothing more than a memory, if the nip in the air was anything to go by. Not that he was cold, unlike his husband, who shivered when they paused to cross the street. As soon as it was safe, they were on the other side, heading towards the new coffee shop that opened up last month.

The grand opening banner still hung in the window along with a sign announcing the Wednesday special: buy a cup, get a cup free. Didi reached for the door, opening it and Tino stepped inside. Didi followed, mentally shaking his head as his husband embraced the warmth inside.

“Aaah…” Tino said, dramatically hugging himself. “This is more like it! I can’t believe how cold it got!” He leaned against Didi and looked up at him with a smile.

“It’s not that cold.”

“Yeah…” Tino grinned mischievously. “Well, now that I’m inside with you, it’s not. It’s deliciously warm,” he purred as he clung to his husband.

Didi nodded. He could feel his cheeks heating up and a certain part of his anatomy starting to harden. It was all he could do to keep from letting out a low growl in response to his beloved’s giggles. “Let’s get some coffee?” he said in a vain attempt at trying to distract himself from Tino’s antics. Somehow, the two of them managed to walk up to the counter to place their order without attracting too much attention.

“Oooh! Let’s get a pumpkin spice latte and a slice of pumpkin bread!” Tino said as he peered at the dessert case.

“Don’t you think that’s too much pumpkin?”

“No…” Tino frowned.

“Okay. But I think I’ll get a donut, instead.” Didi placed their order. Turning to Tino, he said, “Let’s go find a seat.”

Tino nodded as he took the tray with their order and followed his husband to the seating area. They found a table and sat down. He handed Didi his coffee and donut, before taking his coffee and pumpkin cake off the tray, which he moved to the side.

Didi sipped his coffee, briefly savoring the taste, before swallowing. The warmth as it went down was also nice. He bit into the donut. It was nothing special, but it did taste good with the latte.

Tino happily devoured the pumpkin bread, although, he had to admit, if only to himself, there was not much difference between his latte and the pumpkin bread. It was all warm, spicy goodness. Still, the pumpkin spice K-cups they got at the supermarket last week and the pumpkin bread Didi made the other day were so much better. Oh well… he thought, at least they tried the new place…

“You like it?” Didi popped the last bite of donut in his mouth, washing it down with his latte.

Tino sighed. “It’s good, but yours is so much better.” He ate the last bite.

Didi blushed. “Danke.”

Tino reached across the table and gave his husband’s hand a gentle squeeze. “Let’s go. I’m cold-”

“After that warm drink?”

“Yeah,” Tino said saucily. “And I can think of a better way to warm up.” He waggled his eyebrows.

“Me too.” Didi blushed. He took out his wallet and left a couple of dollars on the table, before getting up to leave. He walked over to Tino and took his hand. Together they left the coffee shop and headed home for a bit of fun between the sheets and the warmth of their love.
