Hey everyone!
So here we go!
This is the first part of Ruki's 23-page interview in Rock&Read 33, which has sold out in many places.
I am planning to do this in 4 parts, but I guess you'll have to be a little patient. Seeing my schedule from this Tuesday, I probably won't be able to do any more until January. I will get right back into it the though. :

It's always bothered me when people in the fandom complain and say 'I cant stand how Gazette is selling out to mainstream'. Reading this interview, even just the first part, is proof that they aren't. As he always has, Ruki continues to do what he wants to do, even if so many people shake their heads and try to change his mind.
It's an unfortunate thing that many people overseas associate anime and music. Just because it comes from Japan. I wish that one day, Ruki decides that it's time to do an overseas tour, releasing their music to the rest of the world in a way that would make people understand that japan doesn't mean anime. Music is music, and just because it comes from Japan doesn't mean it has anything to do with anime. Quite often when I play gazette for people I've talked to them about, I get surprised reactions at how heavy they are because they're from Japan, they think 'oh it must sound like anime openings'. I think this is also due to a lack of exposure, but with the internet as it is now, it's getting much easier to spread this sort of thing.
Now that the GazettE is available in various parts of the world, now even in Hot Topic, I hope that people can break away from the thought of Japanese much=anime, instead of music=music.
thank you very much for translating! I look forward to reading the next parts when you finish them. I always love reading Ruki's interviews <3

When he talked about the oversea fans and anime, I was like I TOTALLY GET YOU. I was just at a convention in Toronto last month (Dot.con) where they invited Luzmelt to perform and do a Q&A, and I cannot tell you how many times I had to facepalm during the Q&A due to all the anime-related questions.
