The past week

So, aside from continued work-related stress, the past week was actually pretty good.

Started working on my wedding dress, which is very exciting. It's going to be a lot of work, I think, but it'll be really pretty. We're also making progress on invitations, so hopefully we'll be able to get those out very soon.

Went and did our second registry on Thursday. What a bizarre process that's been. It really does feel a little bit wrong to parade through a store all "I want that, I want that, I want that, I want that..." Very weird. And I love the information package we got with this one. Featuring some gems like "IT's perfectly acceptable etiquette these days to include a registry card in the invitation..." Hells NO! Just because stores keep telling people this doesn't make it right. The thought makes me cringe. Even better "One way to cut costs is to keep things small, but remember, fewer guests means fewer gifts." Oh no, they didn't... Shudder. But whatever. Like I'm inviting people for the sake of stuff. Yeesh.

Anyway, this weekend was awesome. Fuzzy and I bought tickets a while ago to see Night of the Sultans at the casino, and decided to make a bit of a weekend out of it. So we went to the show, and then spent the night in a hotel in Hull. It was so good. The show was fun, if not the most spectacular thing I've ever seen. Made me want to get back into belly dancing, though, and the soundtrack was really good. After that, we had dinner, and went back to the hotel. It was really good to just get away from everything and everyone. In the morning, we came back to Ottawa and had breakfast, then wandered around downtown for a while, kind of attempting to prolong the escape-y feeling, I think. Eventually had to go home, but the weekend was really nice, and I'm very very happy we did it.

Now I'm at work again, and all the stress has come rushing back. Sigh...
