10th Short - [Action]

[Luceti was almost destroyed. Almost. It turned out to be just another prank by the Malnosso, or whatever, but for a while Oswald was convinced that his new home would be crushed by a creepy moon. Then, just like a cartoon short, it all ended and everything was reset to normal. But unlike a cartoon short, this story didn't have a happy ending. None ( Read more... )

[Peach had a similar experience back home. When her and the others were at Sammer's Kingdom, it was devastated by one of Bleck's voids, and it certainly wasn't a pretty sight.

Just like the one that took place when the moon fell down on Luceti.

So, she certainly can relate to Oswald, and is good that she happens to be passing by the bridge where he is. She puts on a smile and walks up to him.]

Oh, hello Oswald. It's been a while.

[Aww, it's Oswald's favorite Luceti Princess! If she's smiling at him like that, he can't afford to look down himself. Still, when he smiles back, it's not entirely convincing.]

Hey, Princess! ... Good mornin'!

[Oh Oswald, Peach can perceive a 'fake' smile from MILES. But she isn't going to push him about it. At least not at first.]

Good morning to you too Oswald. What you doing here all by yourself? [She gets closer, crouching next to him.]

Oh, I'm just thinking, I guess. [He glances down at the river again, watching the water flow beneath his feet.]

That was a pretty disturbing week we had, huh? That creepy moon didn't get to you too much, did it?

I agree. Everything was really messy. First those masks, and then the moon.

[She pauses for a moment to think.]

Well, no. It didn't get to me all that much, even if I... did see something similar happen back home. [Might as well be honest about what she's thinking.]

Something similar? [He looks pretty interested, now.] Similar to a moon landin'?

Well, nothing really 'landed' on us, but I did witness a place being wiped out in the blink of an eye, by a black hole.

Oh whoah, a black hole? It wiped everything out just like that?

Yes... Me and my friends were lucky to 'escape', but everything around us just vanished like that. [She wasn't sure just how they would be able to fix that. If defeating Bleck isn't enough, she'll find a way to do so.]

... Just like that? Forever?

[He's thinking of Wasteland, again. Half the land there vanished in the Thinner Flood, too.]

Well, we aren't very sure if that's a permanent thing. It would be good if it wasn't... [Those poor Sammers...] Hopefully, defeating the guy who caused this will turn things back to normal.

Yeah... Yeah, I hope so too! For your world, I mean. You don't deserve to have your land vanish around you.

[There's something about Oswald's tone of voice while he says those things that catches Peach's attention, but she isn't sure if she should ask why.]

It wasn't really my land, so to say, but I still feel bad about not being able to do something to help them.

I... Yeah, I agree. See, this is why the moon thing was so annoying. It brings up bad memories.

[Not just for Peach, of course, but Oswald doesn't entirely realize how general his remark is.]

Even if it didn't bring bad memories, that whole setting was just unsettling.

And quite unnecessary.

...

Is there something bothering you Oswald? I mean, aside from the moon fall. [There. She asked it.]

[Uhoh. Oswald's ears droop again, as he chuckles nervously.]

Oh, uh... Nahhh. It's uh... I mean, okay, maybe I'm a little homesick, but... It's nothin' to worry about. I'll get over it.
