Yunho felt his stomach drop. It was not hard to put two and two together. The mystery why the woman looked familiar was no mystery anymore.

“There is a woman outside the house.”

“Hmm.”

“I said, there’s a woman outside the house.”

“I heard you the first time, Jae.”

There was something really annoying about talking to someone who don’t even pay attention to you. Pursing his lips, Jaejoong marched towards the father and son tandem, snatched the game consoles in their hands and proceeded to turn off the TV making his now ten year old son gasp in horror but he chose to ignore it. He crossed both arms on his chest and faced his favourite people.

“Now, are you ready to listen to me?”

Minseok puffed his cheeks, still bummed at being forced to stop when he was already so close to beating Yunho at the game. “Papa,” he said, “Mama was the one ignoring you, not me. Why did you have to turn it off? I was almost winning!”

“No you’re not.” Yunho interjected, giving Minseok a thumbs down. “You were going down, Jung Minseok. Dooown!”

Jaejoong rolled his eyes at the pair. “Real mature, Yunho. You have to pay attention because there’s this suspicious woman standing right outside our house!”

Just to shut his husband up, Yunho got up from his spot on the floor with a little difficulty - for obvious reasons - and checked the suspicious woman through the window. “Well…” he trailed off and shut the window close, shuddering. “She stared right into my eyes. What a creep.”

Jaejoong squeaked, throwing himself at the other male and clung on to him for dear life. “I feel like we’re in a horror movie. Come here, my baby. Faster!” Almost reluctantly, and finding really no need to panic, Minseok made a beeline to his parents. “Hug me!” The little boy complied. “Now Yunnie, take us to our room. We’re all going to sleep together tonight.”

“Uhm, Jae,” Yunho said. “It’s just five in the afternoon.”

“Now!”

“Yes, boss.”

“Don’t you think papa’s overreacting?” Minseok whispered to his mama as they cuddled on the couch while Jaejoong floated around the kitchen, whipping them up something to eat.

Yunho pressed a finger against his son’s lips and shook his head. “Shush! You’ll get us both in trouble.”

It was common knowledge that Jaejoong had a tendency to exaggerate and overreact which why was it didn’t surprise them when he decided that they all stay in the house and not go out until further notice. In other words, until the woman stopped showing up. Luckily, it was summer vacation and Minseok had no school to attend to.

It had been three days. The woman was still there; every three thirty in the afternoon, standing outside their house like it was nobody’s business and stayed there until seven in the evening. Jaejoong had considered calling the police but Yunho thought they didn’t need to resort to such measure. That, and locking themselves inside their own home was just as pathetic as calling authorities.

“Changmin and Choco will drop by tomorrow for our groceries.” Jaejoong said over dinner as if it would be the solution to their problem.

Yunho, though, looked at him in incredulity. “I thought we’re not allowed to have visitors?” Minseok pointedly ignored his parents, stuffing himself with pasta instead. He loved his parents dearly but being stuck with them for three days straight without giving him time to be alone was starting to frustrate him. “And groceries? Groceries?!” Yunho continued rambling. “That’s our job, not theirs.”

“Yes, but that’s a favour. They said it’s fine so I gave them a list.”

“Choco is six months pregnant.”

“I know.” Jaejoong retorted as if insulted by his reminder. “It’s not like I’m making her carry the stuff. That’s what Changmin’s for, genius.”

After dinner, Minseok excused himself to go play on his mama’s laptop while the adults headed to their room for some cuddling, and maybe more. But really, it was just harmless cuddling. Yunho was too tired from entertaining Minseok all day. He was sprawled out on the bed as Jaejoong used his arm as a pillow, curled onto his side. “This is ridiculous, love, and you know it.” The smaller male responded by burying his face deeper on his chest. “One of us has to talk to that woman and if it’s not you, then it’s going to be me. We can’t be prisoners in our own house. Minseok has been complaining that he misses playing outside.”

“I know.” Jaejoong answered after a few moments of silence. “I’m just scared, okay? We don’t know who she is and what she wants. I’m not going to let you face her alone. We’re in this together, hubby.” He giggled. Even after more than a year of marriage, the term of endearment still made him warm and fuzzy inside.

Yunho chuckled. “Silly Joongie.”

By three thirty, after making sure that their son was safe with Changmin and Choco, they finally approached the lady who was obviously startled by their sudden appearance. Jaejoong squeezed Yunho’s gently and then spoke, “Hello, uhm, you. Do you need something from us?” Only when the lady recovered from her initial shock did she nod stiffly. “I hope you know you’re creeping us out.”

Yunho fought the urge to facepalm at his husband’s choice of words. “What he meant to say was, we would have appreciated it if you just knocked on our door and told us what you needed.”

“Like a normal person.” Jaejoong added unnecessarily.

Yunho sighed, and then watched as the woman blinked at them. He could tell she was very reluctant to speak. Somehow, she looked familiar but he was plenty sure he had not seen her yet.

“Minseok,” she muttered so softly that they wouldn’t have heard it if they were not listening intently. The mention of their son’s name suddenly made them nervous.

“Who are you and why do you know our son?” Jaejoong spoke through gritted teeth.

Yunho felt his stomach drop. It was not hard to put two and two together. The mystery why the woman looked familiar was no mystery anymore. He knew Jaejoong had figured it out, too, but just didn’t want to admit it. None of them were definitely prepared for what was coming next.

“Minseok is my son and I want him back.”

That night, Jaejoong cried himself to sleep. The revelation caused chaos. Jaejoong almost fainted and had to be ushered back inside by Changmin - who was wise enough to take a peek outside the window while the confrontation was happening - while Yunho very civilly told the woman to never come back or he will not hesitate to call the police. It was not an empty threat.

“Mama, what happened?” asked a curious Minseok, eyeing his sleeping papa worriedly. Yunho only shook his head and hugged the little boy closer to his chest. Minseok didn’t have to know anything. Not at the moment, at least. “Papa’s not sick, is he?”

Reaching out, the little boy stroked Jaejoong’s soft locks. “Not at all baby.”

“Then can I hug him? I like hugging you but I think papa needs my hug more.”

Yunho could only smile as Minseok shifted closer to Jaejoong and proceeded to wrap his arms around the slumbering man. He knew the woman would be back sooner or later but that didn’t matter, because he is going to do everything in his power to keep his family intact.
