Mars and Google and The Weekend

Oct 03, 2008 12:16

I went to see The Mars Volta last night with my buddy Sean. It was a pretty nutty concert (as illustrated by my in-concert Twitter of "The Mars Volta are Nuckin' Futs!") with lots of energy. I'm not a huge fan but I sure did enjoy the show. If you aren't familiar with them they're sort of a neo-prog second coming of Rush but more aggressive with a FISHesque jam style. So yeah, their songs are about 10 to 20 minutes long. I drank a lot of beer and that seemed to help. Hehe.

You might have missed this on hadrian_m's blog but there's a fun little page that Google has made available wherein you can search like it's the year 2001.  It's really interesting to see how things have changed.  And if you want to have your mind totally blown, my aol Kngfuraday (yes, no I) page is still alive!  My handle didn't have an "I" because AOL only allowed handles with 10 characters at the time.  Anyhow, it's a nice relic from days gone by and basically sat there as a redirect after I had had my site removed from AOL (without notice).  You can see it here.

I'll be glad to get into the weekend really.  Tonight I'm gonna see the new Bill Mahr flick with some of the guys and then hang out with a Flickr buddy who's in town.  Tomorrow I'll head to Laguna to see my family and hang out a bit before I head up to Anaheim for possibly some Disney with bearxxl and/or bear shennanigans with folks at the Ho-Jo and the Ramada.  Sunday will be Gay Days with the bears and then rushing back to SD for a live event with work.  It'll be a busy one!
