the weekend before The Weekend

I'm sitting here in my apartment sweating and watching an rerun of the Kelly C/Reba Crossroads episode - yeah, come on - you knew I was into cheesy awesome poppy yummy shit like that. And yes, for those of you where the snow still falls it might be rough to hear that it's been a glorious mid to upper 80s weekend but hell, you guys were probably over me and my San Diego propaganda ages ago. So here, I'll say this and perhaps you'll feel better: Your town is better than San Diego. No really, it is. Please stay there.

Hehe, ok - so yeah - doing some laundry and having a pretty regular Sunday. Met up with Mikey, Matt, JP and an old co-worker of JP's for brunch at Babo Grande's (aka the crepes spot near me). Sure was a nice time. We talked, ate, laughed, and caught up on this that and the other thing. The staff there is so awesome. They mentioned that we hadn't been around in a while and were happy to have us back. They comp'd us a big ol' plate of fruit (and me, the I-don't-eat-fruit-guy even had some...yummy and refreshing). We probably hung out there for almost three hours. Was good to see the boys. I came on home and have been doing laundry and putzing mostly since then. I think John and I might go get yogurt in a bit. I want to hear how his trip to LA and Six Flags was.

I was in such a mood on Thursday - I had played volleyball and I think my body just got mad at me for doing something physical without asking permission. I was feeling nauseous and having like these weird deja-vu episodes. I just felt lousy. On Friday I felt a bit better and in the evening I got a call from my buddy Brian saying he had 4 tickets to see some TV pilots and would I like them. I said sure and invited RobH, JP, and DaveO to join me. As we talked about this outing we got to realizing that it might be some sort of pyramidy scam to get a captive audience for marketing research. DaveO had been to something like it and he said one of the pilots had rue mcclanahan in it. Anyhow, we get to the hotel and it's quickly quite clear that this is what we've been given tickets too. The guy even mentions that one of the shows has Rue in it. Ha! So we split, took a drive around Fiesta Island, got some Mexican Food, Yogurt, and then we played Mario Party (I won - Yaay me).

Saturday I had a mellow afternoon before heading out with my Grandparents and my Mom for Japanese food. We went to my Grandparents "favorite" spot which was really a bit of a dive. I mean, CA rolls with the solid hunk o' fake crab meat and huge pieces of cucumber (sign of the more-of-less method) in 'em. Sticky, low quality rice. I mean, it wasn't horrible but damn there are a lot places that are way better. But yeah, it was more about hanging with the family. Afterwards my Mom and I dropped 'em off and we came back to Hillcrest. Mom hadn't seen my place in a while so I took her by for a looksee. We then walked down to YogArt for a tasty treat. I think she really liked it. We sat out front and watched people go by. We talked about life and even a bit about religion. I told her I was against organized religion and she gently reminded me that all of her friends and the people she cared for greatly were people she met through the church. She went on to challenge me with the idea of where would one go to find people who had the same ideals and goals and beliefs (with God) if not through a church? To which I replied, the Internet. Where do you think I find the men who are so special and important to me in my life? :-) My Mom is pretty damn awesome. It was the first time we had gotten to hang out, just us in a while.

Grandma and Grandpa (lovers of mediocre Japanese food)

That night I went down to PECs for a beer and met up with Bryson, DaveO, Wallace... Matt was working. We had fun. Was nice to be out again. It'd been a while.

In other news... I played GH3 on Wii for the first time since getting my ps3.... Oh man - ghetto! Feels like playing GH on an Atari 2600. Hehe, man... If I could just have a GH style guitar on Rock Band I'd leave GH behind forever. With RBs downloadable updates and content it just blows GH away. I mean, I downloaded the darn song for Portal last week! Currently I'm working on Hard in drums and playing through downloaded songs like "The Perfect Drug", "Siva". and even "Move Along" by the All American Rejects.

My allergies are so amp'd up right now.  My eyes are dry - just yuck... So over it.

I know it's a little odd for me to post on a Sunday but I have a lot to do at work tomorrow so probably won't check in on LJ much. The week has a lot going on and I want my plate clear before getting into Thursday night (Jason!)

Carry on!

friends, gh3, family, san diego, me, ps3, wii, the weekend
