Looking Good Billy Ray! Feeling Good Louis!

Yeah, I didn't need sleep anyway...  I had planned on getting to bed early last night but I got lost in a big piece of wonderful conversation with a certain guy who lives just east of me.  A certain guy who I'll be seein' soon (but not quite soon enough really)...

Anywho, after I got off the phone I watched "Fractured" (yaay HD DVRs!) and I thought it was pretty damn good.  It didn't resolve at quite the level I was hoping for - especially after getting me all torq'd up throughout but I'm a BIG Ryan Gosling fan so it was just good to see him being, well, hot...  Yes
pinner123, Flame Hot, not Thing Hot.  Afterwards I gave in and watched the new episode of South Park too.  It was decent.  A fun riff on Die Hard...  Less topical, more just plain silly.  I was actually thinking they'd riff on the Bigamist Sect or something but maybe that'll be next week.

I had an early call this morning that I did on my commute.  That meant no Howard Stern to listen to but I'll catch up on the way home.  The call went decently - it just stacked some more work on my team but it's good work - work that'll help us grow.

I'm gonna split around 4pm today so I can get down South and play some volleyball... Can't wait!

Oh, I had lunch today with the LJer formerly posting as
bigkid and I'd like to happily report that he 1) is living and 2) is doing quite well.  We actually had a really nice conversation over lunch at Arby's.  It's pretty damn cool to have a friend or two in Carlsbad to go to lunch with.  I just wish
bnsd70 was let out of his pharmaceutical prison longer than 30 minutes a day as he works nearby as well.

I decided against going to Six Flags this weekend with the gang.  I mean, just about everyone I'm crazy about on the West Coast is going but I just can't afford it... And honestly, I'm not really in the mood to ride coasters this weekend (yeah, I know, check my temperature)...  It's like I can go to Disney over and over and never get tired of it, but Six Flags is sorta becoming a once a year kind deal for me.  If only I could get all those guys together for like a big ol' day long BBQ, pool/beach party, bonfire...  Hmmmm...

In other news, I'm enjoying LJ more than ever.  I think it's because as I'm getting older, growing, knowing myself more, just digging the process of living more I'm also at an age where I get to watch other folks squirming and dealing with their own personal growth (aka their 20s) and really relate to them in the sense that I've been there, gone through that...  I mean, it never ends, but I do really, firmly believe that things start to gel in your 30s.  Anyone in their 40s/50s wanna warn me about how wrong I am to think I'm even close to figuring it out?  Hehehe...  I say that because I generally roll my eyes when I read posts or hear from younger guys who are so jubilant and forthcoming in sharing their sage advice and end all/be all answers.  But the eye rolling goes along with the celebration of the discovery because it's all good.  Even the bad is pretty damn good.  I'm just glad people are actively mixing it up and sharing.  Even when it pisses me off - ha!

Let's see... Oh, new Elbow came out on the 22nd... I was listening to it a bit and I kinda dig it.  Their stuff tends to connect with me after multiple listens so I'll put it in rotation.  I have to say, I'm sorta digging on my record player.  I've been inclined to play more vinyl (what little I have) of late.  I found my copy of Beck's vinyl-only release "One Foot in the Grave"... It's a blues exploration and there are some decent tracks on it.  You can definitely hear the early foundations of "Sea Change" being built.  I think I might pop over to the local record shop and see what cheap-o vinyl they might have.  Right now I'm mostly spinning REM's Document along with the Beck and the soundtrack to Electric Dreams.  I have some singles too - some Nirvana, the first ever Foo Fighters single (This is a Call/Winnebago), and some older stuff from local bands like rust, Blink-182, Unwritten Law, Lucy's Fur Coat.  I even have an old Noise Addict disc too.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  I'll leave you with a bit of info (it's on the d/l so don't tell anyone, ok?)  So yeah,
jcubmn is totally coming to San Diego a week from today and I'm crazy excited... but don't tell him I told you...)
