Though I sympathize with Morgana totally, this episode really made me feel bad for Uther, and I feel like this might not have been the case if there'd been more buildup and more interaction between the two of them to lead up to this last straw.
I agree, had there been more buildup between them, had we seen her expressing outrage at him for condemning Gauis to death, etc....then it would have seemed a little less harsh. You're right, it is sad that the one time he isn't actively persecuting (I mean I think it's within reason to kill someone trying to kill you) is when the final break-up happens.
You know I actually thought he would kill her if he found out she had magic (she does too!), but after this epp, after seeing him unable to act against her even after she betrays him and helps his enemy escape, I think now that he wouldn't have killed her for her magic....
And nice gif, god did ASH do a great job with that scene, the heartbreak is written all over his face! :(

Oh, I actualyl didn't. And this kind of just confirmed it. I can imagine him locking her forever or sth. BUT IDK, I don't think he'd find it in his heart to actually go forward with it.
Or maybe banishing her....I don't know if he'd even have the heart to lock her up for good! (He seems to like locking his kids up to punish them temporarily, like in 1x12, but he did that to Arthur in 1x04 as well, to teach them a "lesson").
I guess this confirms his sentiments in 1x12....but on the other hand he did also say in 1x08 that if he had ever found out that Morgana had had something to do with Mordred's escape that she would not maintain her father's protection. Although maybe then as in 2x11 he knew she had done it but pretended not to, just to warn her...
And yeah, I was full of shipper squee at that as well, his refusal to hurt her, gah! :p
I knew it was coming, them breaking all kind of relationship, I was expeting it to be about sth more... meanful though. A part of me wants to think that that was too rushed and too out of nowwhere, but Morgana has been always been show as a rather self-centered character and even more this season with her drifitng away (as even away from the screen LOL!) so another part of me, says it makes sense that Morgana decided Uther was going against what she cares and pff pff couldn't seen behind that and realize he might had a point in this particular ocassion.
Also, my poor Uther. My heart broke with him and the fact that he let go Morgana even though he KNOWS it was her that let Alvaar free made my shipperself squee in between the angst. :(((

It makes no sense that she would let Uther condemn her dear friend and physician GAUIS to death without a protest or finally reaching breaking point, when he was INNOCENT and had served for so long (and when she had protested the much less drastic sacking of him) but Uther executing a sworn enemy who is in no way innocent is what does it for Morgana? Especially after she was first driven off the edge last season by Uther killing someone she knew and cared about
( ... )
About the second, yes, I do agree she cares, and i think when she remembers now she still does, but I think from the beginning there always a "me" into her thoughts, specially after herdiscovering her magic. I don't blame her, but she always kind of acted without thinking much on the consecuences. (IDK. see 1x12, or 2x03 where she says she is not going back. she needs so much to feel good herself thatshe ends up forgetting all that she cares, like... leaving people to die). I do love the Morgana that cares for people, but I do think there's this little thing that when it affects her she becomes a bubble and the rest doesn't matter, does it make sense? like, she can't really think and reason when it's about her. I meant it in that way...¿
I can see that....I do think she was primarily motivated by her personal hurt at Uther in 1x12, that he had thrown her in the dungeon (the look on her face at the last minute there!) and by some resentment at the belief that he had been responsible for her father's death....
2x03 though as I said before doesn't count for me though, because it's season 2, in which she seems to have pretty much no spine, and in which so many characters are acting out-of-character...;)
That's my problem with this, and season two in general. Everything seems so abrupt and then is like forgotten. If they had plotted in small ways Morgana like... destroying her relationship with every main character, then it would have 1. been more meaningful, and 2. wouldn't have come completely out of no where. There have been so many great chances and scenes that the writing team wasted. Gauius, the marrying the troll, Arthur's being enchanted, the druid girl being hunted, and YES even the Morgana scenes in the Witchhunter and the one where she escaped to the druids. Last season, where Morgana was almost breaking with Uther... felt it was coming from somewhere. This doesn't.
Also, I'm pissed about the dude being a manipulative douche who's manipulating Morgana. If she had done this for herself, then it would be different. But.. of course not. Ugh. I am really just dissatisfied with the season as a whole.

AMEN. I hate that slimeball, hate him making out with his girlfriend and mocking Morgana afterwards, what a tool! If it had been just her--like say deciding that Uther being ready to kill Gauis is the last straw--then I would have been much more okay with it....
I am disappointed by this ending for them, as I feel the reason she "disowned" him, is because she knew it would hurt him, she loves him, which sadly is combined w/hate because she cannot be herself. She showed up after the escape just to see if he would rat her out, and the break in his voice said it all. She did not look angry at one point, almost sad, because she was just proved wrong, in that she could have told Uther her secret, rather than get fired up over some issues of which she does not 100% understand. Shame Morgana! Uther has his issues, but he is still right when he said "You have no idea what it means to be King".
But the look Merlin was giving her at the end of that episode, she should be scared--reminded me of how he looked when he told Nimhue he would make Arthur King. I hope that he tells her that he knows what she is, and what she did, and that she has betrayed the all, in addition to Uther and ARTHUR. k
Well serves Merlin right, he betrayed HER too, by his handling of her admission that she might have magic, refusing to admit that possibility to comfort her, and refusing to share his own secret so she wouldn't feel alone....I think he could have prevented her from feeling so isolated and desperate that she could be so easily manipulated by Alvar!
And yeah, I didn't catch that sad look, but I hope she does realize now that she was mistaken, that Uther wouldn't have killed her if he had known....now they've lost their bond forever...:( I knew it would be an angsty end, but it could have played out in a much more satisfying way...
Again, it's the fault of the writers for not maintaining the M/U relationship throughout, so that this end would be more believable and not so out of the blue...
I know--I have been saying for all the eps how disappointing the writing has been. The inconsistent character development really screwed the show up. Even w/Morgana/Arthur: Morgana did her usual begging to Arthur, and he thinks she's being overly protective because he's such a stud? What?! This whole season she has never been herself; she never said anything to Uther about his wife? what?! At least she turned around when leaving the Druids, as she still is protective of Arthur--although you'd never know it. Also, I don't think M/U is over yet, but his downfall is the one thing that has been slowly happening throughout this season. This will seal the deal. I cut Merlin some slack because he is also still a kid, and in such a tenuous position--but I'll finish my review and post soon. k
