What I saw on the drive home tonight

scarves of snow streaming across the road
sparkling in the lights of an on-coming car
spinning away to the the side of the road where there are
piles of snow waiting to pile
higher and higher all the while
delaying the warm, declining the sun.
Clinging to winter.
