Summary: Yunho has always had a crush on his neighbor now he gets to talk to him. He couldn't be any giddier.
He fidgets, that’s what he does. He can’t control it even if he wants to- his nerves really does get the best of him. He tries to breathe slowly to calm himself down but only manages make himself nervous. His done this for a few weeks now but he never gets used to it.
With one last breath and a short pep talk with himself he knocks at the door.
There’s no answer and so he tries again. The longer he waits the more nervous he gets and the more nervous he gets the more he fidgets.
Calm down Yunho, calm down. It’s going to be okay. You’re not going to be a blubbering mess. You are not going to be a blubbering mess. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE A BLUBBERING MESS. You will be cool, confident and every bit suave man that you are. Well that’s what you hope anyway.
When he hears the footsteps his mind begins race. When he hears the door being unlocked his palms begin to sweat. When he sees one Park Yoochun his mind goes haywire. When Park Yoochun smiles at him he dies and goes to heaven.
“Oh, hey! What brings you here?” Yoochun asks, smile unwavering as he proceeds to let Yunho in.
He’s talking to me, I should probably answer.
“I came to give you your mail, the postman did it again”'
Yunho hands the mail over and Yoochun glances at them, they’re mostly bills and some subscriptions. Nothing much, he checked them first before handing them over.
No, he was not snooping-he’s just a curious person, curious about Yoochun particularly.
“Funny, the postman’s pretty fond of placing my mail in your mailbox.” Yoochun observes, he looks amused more than anything.
Yunho just nods and agrees, he doesn’t really have anything to say anyway.
Yoochun places his mail on the side table and walks over to get some tea. Yunho watches him standing there awkwardly, he’s still fidgeting by the way.
Yoochun motions for him to sit with him on the table and Yunho obliges, he gets the tea prepared for him with a smile.
He’s never really had a long conversation with Yoochun, their interactions were mostly on a “hi” and “hello” basis with the occasional “how are you’s” Yoochun has always been welcoming of him even if he’s never really that accommodating. It was mostly due to the fact that his little crush on his neighbor hindered any kind of interaction or brain functioning for that matter.
“Hmm, we live right across each other but it seems like I haven’t really talked to you. I feel like a bad neighbor now.” Yoochun starts. “You always bring me my mail though so thank you so much for that.” he continues, gratitude evident.
“It’s really nothing, I don’t mind at all.” Yunho tells him reassuringly. “Well maybe I should thank the postman even, at least now we get to talk.”
Yoochun chuckles, his eyes crinkling and Yunho swears he just wants to pinch the other’s cheeks right now.
“Umm. . are you sure I’m not disturbing you or anything?” Yuncho asks, taking note on Yoochun’s attire. He looks like he’s about to go out and was dressed up quite nicely and quite ravishing he might add.
“No of course not! Wouldn’t pass up this opportunity to get to know my neighbor now, besides this is probably the first time I really get to talk to you.” He smiles.
Yunho smiles back, he’d been waiting for this and he wouldn’t dare pass this opportunity up either.
They talk and get to know each other and time passes by quickly but neither notice. They seem like two friends instead of strangers and just neighbors.
Yunho enjoys himself immensely, he thinks he may have fallen in love somewhere during the conversation. He’s never met anyone as engaging as Yoochun or as interesting either. They jive well and he could feel the chemistry between them he only hopes Yoochun feels it too.
He just wishes it would never end.
The conversation is cut off however when Yunho’s phone rings. He apologetically and sheepishly smiles and Yoochun before taking the call. Yoochun just signals him to go answer it.
“Oh hey. . .WHAT?!” Yunho glances at the clock on the wall, never noticing that time had elapsed that fast. He was supposed to meet Jaejoong that afternoon to discuss important matters.
As much as he’d like to stay and continue talking to Yoochun who he was sure is his soulmate by now, he couldn’t do that.
Yunho looks at Yoochun apologetically, “Oh man, sorry but I need to go- I have a meeting I almost forgot about.” He hastily motions to leave, even fumbling over the chair. He’s late, really late and he did not want to piss off Jaejoong at all.
Yoochun just smiles “It’s okay, don’t worry about it. You don’t want to keep your friend waiting.”
Yunho smiles again, “I really enjoyed our conversation - um, maybe next time we can talk again in a different setting. . .”
“Is that an invitation for date?” Yoochun asks, he’s chuckling by now. Yunho bites his lips, “Yeah, it is.” he smiles shyly.
“I’d love to.”
And Yunho couldn’t hide his smile anymore, this day couldn’t get anymore perfect. Before he has a chance to say anything more he remembers Jaejoong waiting for him.
“I really have to go now” He goes and motions towards the door. He goes out but turns around to face Yoochun. “I guess I’ll see you around then.”
Yoochun nods in agreement and smiles at him brightly. He continues to walk towards the door, trying to be slow in order to make the moment last longer, to be with the other longer.
Just when Yunho leaves, Yoochun calls out to him.
“You know, you didn’t really have to make my mail an excuse to talk to me. I know you picked my lock to get my mail- the postman had nothing to do with it. It was all you”
“Nevertheless, I always look forward to you bringing my mail.”
Yoochun smiles at him, giggling at Yunho’s shocked expression. “Anyway, bye now, I’m really looking forward to our date.” Yoochun gives a final wave and one last smile before closing the door.
And all Yunho can do is nod.
Well shit.
