We went to the MN Zoo on Thursday of last week. We went down to Rob & Barb's Wednesday night to hang out and then spend the night so we could all go to the zoo right away in the morning as it's right near their house. The kids had fun playing all evening and were pretty excited to go to the zoo the next day.
My mom met us there and we had a really good time. The weather was perfect and the zoo wasn't too crowded. We didn't get too many pictures. We were too busy enjoying ourselves and helping the kids to see everything. It was fun to see the baby farm animals. I don't think we've ever made it to the zoo at this time of year to see the babies at the farm. There were baby pigs, sheep, goats, cows, chickens, and bunnies. There was also a baby camel and baby monkeys. I can't think of any other babies we saw.
Jack was looking forward to seeing the puma's all day. The bears were napping when we first saw them but we went back and checked on them later and they were playing in the water.
Saturday Jack and I went to Brooke's birthday party. We were originally all going to go but Keira woke up with a snotty nose and wasn't feeling well so she was pretty crabby. She and Jared stayed home. Jack was pretty excited to go to Brooke's birthday party. He kind of played by himself though once a lot of the other girls started showing up. He even said at one point "there's too many girls here Mama, I think some of them should leave". LOL!!!! After a while though he joined the group and had fun playing the games. Brooke had a Detective theme so the kids had to hunt for their gift bags which had disguises in them (among other things - Jack got a cool dinosaur sandwich cutter thing that he loves) and then they had to go through detective boot camp (obstacle course). Once they completed the obstacle course they got their detective badges. They had pizza and played pin the tail on the donkey and took turns hitting the pinata. Then they had cake and ice cream, opened presents and had a dance party. Jack was the only boy there but he had fun :o) I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked because my camera battery died and I forgot the spare battery.
After the party we stopped at a garage sale on our way home. I have been looking for a wooden train set for Jack that isn't a total rip off for the longest time. I refuse to spend $20-$30 on 6 pieces of track and 1 train. I got a sweet deal at a garage sale though. I got a ton of track and a bunch of trains along with a huge bridge for $20!! Total score! He loves it too. He was so happy I bought it and it's really nice that it's big enough and there are enough trains for him and Keira to play at the same time and not fight.........too much ;)
Early in the week last week I got some cute pictures of the kids playing the backyard. They love the sandbox and trying to hit baseballs. Jack got a t-ball thing like 2 years ago that pitches baseballs and he's really into this year.
isn't she the cutest little girl ever???
now lets try the other side
imitating her brother who at one point was using the shovel instead of the bat
