Because apparently, one year's difference is all it takes.

It's been a long time since I posted here, whattt. Dang.

So here's the deal. I was thinking about some of the Riku/Sora fanfiction I used to read before I, um - had taste? And a recurring theme in almost every one of them portrayed Riku as the cynical, jaded guy and Sora as... the retard, basically. Riku seemed to know everything about the world while Sora, innocent and wide-eyed, ran to him for all manner of things, including how to deal with a fucking boner. Yes, that is a real fic.

Riku/Sora writers everywhere? They are one year apart. One. Sure, this can make a difference, but not to the point that Sora acts like he's five years old. They're going to be experiencing the same things together, for the most part, and Riku might be a little bit more worldly, but that can probably be explained by the fact that he actually cares about shit outside of the island and, prior to the events of the first game, Sora doesn't.

I know it's tempting. It's even kind of cute when Sora is clueless and Riku has to teach him about things - I'm sure I must have written some fic like that, too, way back when. But please, let's be realistic here. Sometimes? It's really creepy when Riku is almost babysitting Sora for all his lack of experience with anything.

riku, sora
