A word on pairing love.

Okay. So.

Lately I've noticed a bit of complaints, not just here but in general, about a pairing not getting enough love - in this case XigDem, but really, this can be applied to any "non-mainstream" pairing. Always the same complaint of "where'd it go, I liked it so much, people should make more fic/art/whathaveyou", in this case with a side of "boo Zemyx stole its thunder what the hell".

You want your pairing to have more love - that's great. Love is always a wonderful thing! But seriously? Enough already. In fact, here's a thought - why not, I don't know, do something about it? Go out and write a fic! Make some art! Do something!

Really, it's that simple. I remember when there were like three pages of Zemyx on FFNet, and I was disappointed by said lack of fic, so I started writing again just so there would be more. I mean, seriously? If the fans of a pairing won't do stuff for it, then who will? Be proactive! Start a revolution! Make more fic, make more art, make whatever you like! I mean, really, if everyone decided that the time they spent complaining would be better spent working on expressions of love for their pairing, they wouldn't have anything to complain about.

Now complaining about a lack of good stuff, that's another matter entirely.

And another thing. Please, oh please, don't blame the lack of love for one pairing on the amount of love for another. I'm sorry, it just doesn't work like that. Just because this author or that artist happens to be a fan of such-and-so popular pairing, it does not mean that if that pairing weren't as popular they wouldn't like it, nor does it make them more likely to like another one. Blaming other ships for the problems of your own = major not cool.

Forgive if this sparks wank. That certainly was not my intent with this. Just to make people think about it.
